Had the most amazing pate I’ve ever tasted in a beautiful conservatory impeccably decorated for Christmas. We were thoroughly looked after throughout our meal. We were given plenty of time between courses. Although just, the restaurant was laid out so that we had our own little private corner. Totally recommend!

We visited today Christmas Eve for lunch at 1.30pm and we were greeted warmly when we arrived. We were allocated a really good table for 2 and given menus and a drinks order taken. The food was just excellent and to start we chose the seafood sharing plate which was just superb followed by venison and the chicken milanese, both really good. Dessert to share as we were nearly full was a winter brulee rice pudding. Followed by 2 great coffees. The whole experience was just so enjoyable with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I would thoroughly recommend this wonderful establishment. We will return again without hesitation

A truly characterful Inn located in a picturesque village. Stayed one night only with my sister after a full day at Blenheim Christmas. A big friendly welcome on our arrival and great hospitality from all the staff we had dealings with. Lovely big bedrooms and bathrooms with quaint touches. Very good food in the evening and at breakfast. Wound definitely stay again.

Ours was a return visit as had previously stayed in May for our wedding anniversary weekend. We had such a lovely stay that we decided to return in December, with a group of friends and take in the Blenheim Christmas Lights trail. All the bedrooms at The Royal Oak are lovely and all our friends commented on how super comfortable the beds were. The food is beautiful, from the evening meal chosen from a very varied menu, to the amazing cooked breakfast. Very reasonably priced too.All of the team are lovely, friendly and helpful. The Royal Oak is situated in a beautiful village with easy access via car, to Blenheim Palace and Oxford. We will return in 2025 for sure.

Although small, our room was thoughtfully furnished and bed very comfortable. Nice quality touches, including leaving a port nightcap option along with the tea and coffee! The hotel bar and dining areas were also artfully furnished and staff ((and l must give Georgia a shout out, bless her) were cheerful and helpful, which goes a long way in giving guests a relaxing and positive stay. Definitely recommend it - visit the Royal Oak for a lovely meal or a chilled out break.

We stayed on a Sunday night on the attic room. We chose this room specifically because it had a roll top both and we knew a hot bath would be essential after a long walk. The spiral staircase is not for the faint hearted but worth it when you reach the quaint room at the top! I’ve never stayed in a B&B where they leave you a tot of port as a nightcap, a lovely touch. We had a roast dinner which was amazing and all of the bar and waiting staff were super friendly. The cooked breakfast the next morning was epic too! We will definitely be back in the new year and have already recommended to friends and family.

Atmosphere was exactly what you would expect it to be-warm, welcoming and historical. The rooms were clean and had everything in them you need. The food was amazing and the staff were so kind and went to lengths to make experience as good as it could be. I will definitely visit again. Thank you.

We stayed for two nights. From the moment we walked in the staff could not do enough for us. The room was lovely with a large bathroom with free standing bath, shower and seperate toilet. Altough we were late in booking and the restaurant was busy the first night they found us a table. The breakfast the next day was more than enough to keep us going all day. Ramsden is a beautiful village and worth a trip on its own.

At the end of the day it’s just a pub and sadly with a junior staff member who is rather full of herself and is clearly not qualified to be any sort of supervisor role as she doesn’t understand customer service at all. I’m referring to only a single staff member but the impression she made was significant enough that I’d never stay there again. Which is a shame.
