Quality Inn & Suites Red Wing

Nice basic hotel in quiet area. Note there is no elevator but the front desk person carried our bags up for us. There are rooms on the main floor but he said upstairs would be quieter for us. Room was large and clean. Perkins restaurant right next door and pottery museum on the other side of the freeway.

Typically I don't give a negative review, however, our room was filthy. If the bed had not been changed & it wasn't so late, we would have gone elsewhere. Nothing had been cleaned or vacuumed. Dirt on the floors, peanuts on the carpet, food still in the freezer from the previous guests & the bathroom was disgusting. I cleaned it before we used it. The price increased $110 from Thursday; when I booked the room to Friday. Please give me a clean room for that $. Didn't try the breakfast or pool, we were nervous. A positive, the man at the front desk was kind upon check in. No one around when we checked out. We usually have good luck with Quality Inn. :(

It’s a typical Quality Inn. We wanted an inexpensive clean room and we got it. Breakfast was typical and pool was warm. You can see the age of the hotel in some areas, but our room was updated and very nice. Mattress was comfy. Not with walking distance to anything except Perkins. I would stay here again.

The owner/front office person was friendly and accommodating. They are renovating but there was no disruption. The room was spacious and newly updated, very clean. The breakfast included cold and hot options. The hot options were scrambled eggs and sausage. The pool was very clean and warm. There is a Perkins next door for lunch/dinner options. We will definitely be back. Thank you Kumar! See you in a few months.

Big spacious and clean room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Large TV and comfortable sitting chair. Really reasonable prices. Quick check in. There is a Perkins right next door which is very convenient. Nice indoor pool. Property was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

Just like other Quality Inns we stayed at, the rooms were clean but a bit dated. The mattress and pillows needed to be replaced. We liked the location next to Perkins and surprised how quiet the hotel was even though it was next to A very busy highway. Breakfast was very good.

Needs more attention to housekeeping and information to the customers. We were looking forward to going in their pool, as that was advertised on their site. When we got there we found out the pool was closed but they were not working on it. It would have been nice to be told this. A burned out light in the bathroom and a coffee maker that had no tray to put the coffee in. Only 2 decaf envelopes were provided anyway. Very dusty headboard and hair dryer. A dirty tv remote in a very dirty bag stating it was “fresh”. No sign outside the building telling you where to enter it where the check was. They all looked the same. One more thing.. the sign at the front check in desk said “Pool is close.” Not Pool is closest.

My wife and I stayed here September 2 and 3 of 2022. We booked by phone and the process was smooth. It was one of the only properties available on the dates we chose. The hotel is not in the heart of town but it is an easy and safe walk to get to the center of town. I would anticipate folks that are not active and not in good shape will find the walk too long. That said, if your aren't suffering from any health issues the walk is easy, and if you drive, town is probably a 2 minute trip. Checking in was easy and the lobby was nice. We ended up in room 205 on the second floor. We walked up the stairs and that's when things started to go down hill. We noticed 3 dehumidifiers running in the hallway. Upon opening the door to our room we were met with the terrible smell of mold/mildew. The room felt very damp and had a moldy smell we couldn't escape. The AC unit was running and the room temp was decent, but the smell was constant. We are pretty good sports and decided to try to weather the storm. We went to a store and bought a giant can of scented Lysol and sprayed everything. The, sheets, the bed spread, the pillows, floor and bathroom. Unfortunately that only gave the mold smell a semi sweet, moldy odor. At the time we booked, our room was one of 2 left. Maybe we should have complained and tried to get another room if there was one, but that's typically not our style. We toughed it out for 2 nights and tried to be out of the room for most of the day and evening. A couple of the walls had stains on them possibly from somebody opening a soda can or something. The water from the bathroom sink smelled and there were rust or corrosion spots in the crevices and corners of the walls near the floor. The tub, shower area didn't appear very clean either. The room was a nice size with dated furnishings. The bed was comfortable but had a mold smell. The balcony faced the parking lot and although it was small it was nice enough to sit out on. Apparently the hotel holds a 3 star rating. I think there are nicer 2 star hotels closer to town. I don't typically give bad reviews, however I can't recommend this property based on our experience. Management should have been made aware of this issue by the cleaning crew not by a guest. I don't think the room should be made available until the issue is fixed.

I usually rate a hotel based on the price I paid. I do realize prices fluctuate according to what's going on in the area and weekends. With that said had I paid $100 or less for this hotel I probably would have given it a four or five star rating, but because I paid quite a bit more per night I just couldn't justify that high of a rating. We were put in a very large spacious Suite tons of room but a bit dated. Very clean. My biggest complaint was the Rock hard bed. The bedroom also had an old window air unit which didn't blow very cold. The main room had a newer unit and was nice and cold. Our friends were put in a smaller regular room it was remodeled with newer floors. Both rooms had a small bathroom but clean. Staff was friendly location was great. We didn't use the pool although it looked nice!
