St James Hotel

I've heard about The St. James for many years and decided to treat my wife to an overnight stay to experience the place as a birthday present. We also took in downtown Red Wing and rode the Cannon River Valley Trail. My wife loved the room, hotel, downtown R W and of course, the bike ride. We covered the trail from R W to Cannon Falls and back for a total of just over 40 miles. Great weather, too.

Wonderful large corner room-was told it was Clara’s, the previous owners room. Comfortable bed and bedding. Love the large bath towels and real coffee cups!

My room had poor tv service, and a broken shower. Reported to manager, and he didn't do anything the 2 days I was there.

Stayed at The Foundry at the t. James for our 25th wedding anniversary. I couldn't recommend it more highly if I tried. If you want a romantic getaway, this is the spot. Trust me you won't regret it.

we stayed in Onalaska the night before and had a bad experience at a chain hotel (which we usually don't do, but had no choice as we booked late) but we just KNEW we were going to be blowin away by the St. James - and we were! the ambiance, the service at the restaurant, the quality of the food (we ate there for 3 meals and were not disappointed once) and we are very picky about restaurants. they view from our window was amazing! the town was so quaint. the majority of artists at the art show were very high quality (found lots of gifts!) there was a large black bug crawling on the bathroom floor which my husband killed. and it was kind of wierd that we could not control our thermostat (room 224) when we called front desk someone had to come up and change it for us. is that protocol? but these 2 things were only minor. again, we are already planning our next trip to St. James!

My Parents used to visit the St. James on weekends 50 years ago and always enjoy their stay. Now I know why.. Hospitality from the front desk, to the patio restaurant ,to check-out. Old time hotel ( that doesn't feel old time; great craftmanship )) with old-time hospitality and friendliness. Thank you for wonderful experience, guest centric.

We arrived here on beautiful day, blue skies and just the right temperature for English people. After a walk round the town we settled in the outside bar where the staff were very helpful and friendly. In the evening We ate in the hotel restaurant where the meals were fantastic. Breakfast was also superb. The room was lovely in this historic building and all staff were helpful. Highly recommended.

We have stayed at the St. James Hotel many times and have always had a great experience. The hotel is nearly 150 years old and has old world charm that we enjoy. The rooms can be a bit dated, but they are clean and comfortable. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the restaurant and bars are very good. We love the Red Wing area for hiking, biking, golf, kayaking, and theater (the Sheldon Theater is wonderful). The St. James Hotel offers elegance and comfort.

Amazing history and with ambiance at its finest. The lights and fixtures are elegant. The entire place was nice. Dining was top notch with reasonable prices.
