Best Western Refugio Inn

Room was clean. Desk clerk was friendly. There was only a tiny bottle of shampoo and no conditioner. We asked for conditioner and were told they don't provide it. Had we known we'd have brought our own but every other hotel we've stayed at provided it. Disappointed.

Came in for a wedding and for a small town the BW was excellent. Nicely located and the Motel was clean and laid out well. If there was something I’d knock was maybe the advertised full breakfast. There really wasn’t much as proteins but if you like waffles and cereal it had what you needed. But it was a surprise because we didn’t expect a breakfast so that’s a plus!

Doors don’t lock, the reservation you make will not be available when you show up. There is humidity in the room, the pillows smell, the bed is uncomfortable and the toilet clogged with the manager not willing to do anything about it to help

If I could rate this place with no stars I would, but to write a review it has to have at least one so here it is. When I got into my room I pulled the comforter back on the bed and noticed 3 black bugs, of which I don't know what type they were, on the side of the bed. I noticed they were also on the opposite side of the bed as well and I took pictures of them to show the clerk at the front desk. When I got to the front desk there was a woman and man both speaking to the clerk asking him how much it would cost to rent a room for 2 hours, in which he told her it was the same rate if she had it for overnight as it would be for 2 hours, $130. They eventually left without renting a room and I told the clerk that I was not going to stay there and I wanted a refund. He told me I had to go online to get my refund since that's how my reservations were originally made. I was never able to receive that refund because Best Westerns are independently owned, at least that's what we were told when we called the company to book the reservation, and the owner of that particular one refused to give me one because I didn't ask for another room. No thanks, bugs in one room is plenty for me. Because of this experience I will never stay at a Best Western again.

Sunday morning around 8am there was no one working the front desk for at least an hour. Maybe longer. I needed towels and there was another guest waiting on someone too. I ended up finding the closet and grabbed my own towels. After that I let my son eat some cereal in the breakfast area. By the time I went back to my room, still no employee. I don't know what the other guest needed, but they were still waiting. That's unacceptable.

staff was friendly, property was well maintained and rooms were clean. we were in town for a funeral and half our family stayed there is was nice central location and everyone was close by, we will defiantly stay there again when in town.
