Canalside Inn

The hotel advertises that it is located "just steps from the beach" on their website, when in reality the hotel is 1 mile from the boardwalk; quite a lot further than a few "steps". Since it is quite far to walk (approx 20 mins) driving there (7 minutes) adds a parking expense each time you go at $4.50 per hour. This is in addition to any trips made to the local restaurants (some are closer than the beach). We spent over $70 to park in just 3 days. This was very inconvenient to say the least. The room was adequate and clean, TV & internet were great. There were times when there were laundry bags and cleaning items in the public hallways, and the pool area, outside benches, and fencing could have been much cleaner. Although we did not have children on our trip, a safety concern of ours was the door inside the hotel which led to the pool area. The door did not have any type of safety lock or coded entry making it simple for a child to open the door and enter the area, potentially creating a dangerous situation. The staff & owners were pleasant and helpful to any inquiries.

nope!!! not clean at all! was told it was..but..place full of allergens..mold sand ...old a/c unit..just gross i general..sad because this place was great!!! owners are selling...so its just about the $$$ right now..

For anyone considering a stay at the Canalside Inn, you might want to consider our recent experience there. Frankly I am astounded by the number of rave reviews about this hotel, but having a pet friendly place for those with animals must be a very important factor. Unfortunately our stay was not positive. Because our booking at the Canalside a number of years ago had been so pleasant we thought we would stay there again. Certainly the room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the air conditioning worked well, however the state of cleanliness was deplorable. If the owner checks the rooms before they are rented, as he claims, he could not have possibly missed the disgusting black mold growing in the shower, and of the four towels, one was literally threadbare. There were absolutely no amenities in this $400 a night room; an empty refrigerator; no courtesy cups (except two jelly jars); no complimentary water; no coffee machine; a filthy wine bucket, and a side table with a large chunk of laminate missing. The owner asked why we had not complained then, but there was no one present to complain to, despite the owners claim. Everything was transacted through e-mails, codes, legal dictates, liability waivers to be signed, etc., etc. The overall appearance of the hotel was tired, dirty and neglected, and to add insult to injury, all of the bicycles offered had flat tires! To his credit, he did give us a $100 compensatory credit (when demanded) and a $100 toward a future stay (which is ridiculous considering our experience). Perhaps Bryan Deptula, the owner, should spend a night in his own hostelry to see how improvements to the visitor's experience could be made.

This is the sweetest nicest place to stay . This is our second year staying . We love it . Very clean and colorful rooms . The owners are awesome .

Super cute and cozy place! I loved that it was dog friendly too! The pillows were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. Our room was very up to date and modern looking. The Canalside Inn offered free beach chairs, bicycles, etc to their guests to use while staying! Great place I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely quiet Inn along the Rehoboth Lewes Canal. Boutique style( think South Beach). Extremely comfortable beds, bright cheerful room with good window cover. Very clean with soft towels and bath robe supplied. Keyless entry, morning coffee and front porch adjacent to room. Great location walk to food, drinks shopping. Innkeepers discretely attentive and responsive. Will certainly return.
