A 15-minute drive from Gainsborough, The Boat Inn at Hayton enjoys a canal-side setting near the border of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. It offers a cosy bar and restaurant and free parking and Wi-Fi.
Each guest room at The Boat Inn is stylishly appointed and has hardwood floors. There is an en suite shower, wardrobe, flat-screen TV and tea and coffee facilities in all rooms.
The pub serves a range of home-cooked meals including carvery roast dinners on Sundays. A selection of fine real ales can be enjoyed in the bar or the attractive beer garden, looking out over the canal.
Hayton is a 40-minute drive from the historic cathedral city of Lincoln, and around 50 minutes from Sheffield in neighbouring South Yorkshire. Nottingham and Derby are a little over 1 hour away.

We received a warm welcome. The food was delicious: my husband enjoyed his bacon chop; I enjoyed my fish and chips. We'll come again. The inside of the pub is beautifully decorated. The seats were comfortable. We noticed they have a quiz night and various other themed evenings.

Very slow service as we were told after waiting an hour for our food only one chef was on shift. This left us a bit annoyed and would’ve preferred to have known this when we entered the restaurant. The food was a mixed bag. There were five of us and three of us enjoyed our food. There were also quite a few items unavailable from the menu which was communicated to us after we had chosen our food. Nice enough pub but we will go elsewhere.

Visited for the first time in about 30 years and what was a great venue then, remains a great venue today! The service was attentive - especially from the couple who run the pub. They were welcoming and friendly and definitely encouraging to return by explaining what they do during the week to ensure that there is something for everyone. The pub is bright and clean and has a great atmosphere. The food is very good …….well presented and of a high quality. I would offer that the food is much better than some nearby venues that charge more! We will definitely return.

Absolutely hands down the best sunday dinner around. I have been here many times and the flavours just keep getting better and so does the food Always a nice warm welcome from the staff and plenty of drink options Entertainment, park for the kids with a outside garden next to the canal. Hotel on site etc 👌

5☆ I would definitely recommend having a visit to the Boat Inn. the food is delicious, service with a smile always and the drinks! well there were plenty to choose from. we like Hawkstone lager Yum!..it is our favourite now and not to far to travel. xx

We were family of 9 came on Sunday the 2nd February we had a fabulous Sunday lunch really enjoyed it especially the vegan thought the choices were great and the option she chose was amazing the staff were fantastic and are waitress was very good by checking are orders for food and drinks and checking the table to make sure we had everything We will be back

Enjoyed a lovely three course Christmas dinner here with a large group of friends. Not easy to cater for a group of 25 but they managed it wonderfully. The food was delicious (loved my pudding) and great service from friendly staff. Particularly enjoyed the mulled wine 😋

We had our Christmas meal there in December 2024. They catered for 27 and we all were served well and had great meal. The staff were all very attentive and prepared to go the extra mile. I think I can speak for all present in that we all had a good time and would recommend there pub and restaurant

Stopped off on our way home from York, my husband used to live in Hayton so visited to see where he lived and played as a child. Food was amazing and even had a magician who was fantastic! I honestly can not recommend this restaurant enough staff were lovely and food was spot on , beautifully decorated. Thank you 🤩
