Ilyssion Beach Resort

The image from their site compared to the reality is worse that i imagined,The hotel shouldn't be a 4 star it should be at least 2,the food is bad really bad,especially the breakfast and the lunch,there isn't a big variety you can choose from,the smell is horrid and the personal is mean and doesn't help you at all.The manager when his personal stole something said "leave me alone",i know this because it happend twice. Anyway the rule with the tokens i find it stupid and the drinks from the "hose" have no taste at all,and the reuseable glasses are disgusting.The rooms are pretty nice expect from the fridge and air conditioner.

Overall it was a fairly pleasant stay, however, the room wasn't cleaned properly, and the en-suite was disappointing. It was the smallest en-suite I have ever come across, not to mention the sink was dirty, the toilet seat was loose and the shower was tiny. The shower had a curtain, and due to how small the shower was the curtain stuck to you. I never felt thoroughly cleansed after taking a shower. The staff appear to be over-worked which is probably why we were barely ever greeted with a smile. The food was rather average, about what I've come to expect from an all inclusive buffet. Furthermore, breakfast was disappointing particularly with a mere 2 slice toaster to accommodate such a busy hotel. What isn't detailed when booking is the €30 deposit for 2 drink cups (one per person), room key, air conditioning remote and TV remotely! Yes, you get it back at the end of your stay but I have never experienced this in any hotel I have ever stayed in. Considering it is classed as a 4* hotel, it was disappointing to discover there was no safe in the room. Another deposit was required for this and was kept behind the reception desk...I didn't consider the reception desk to be safe, it wasn't always manned and there was no lock/key pad to stop unauthorised persons from walking in. The hotel's 'beach' was, again, disappointing, it looked untidy/unkempt, and to get into the sea there were metal steps which were a slip hazard. The area around these steps didn't have a safety fence/bars, certainly not safe for children. The sea was lovely once in there, but it was deep, too deep to stand up in. There are a lot of stairs to contend with in this hotel, we were on the second floor, and were we not relatively fit it would have been a struggle. There were stairs down to the restaurant, stairs down to the pools and steps down to the beach. It would not be suitable to anyone unsteady on their feet/wheelchair users/people with walking aids. Getting drinks at the pool bar and the main bar can be tiresome, as there are often long queues due to one member of staff on shift, sometimes there two staff, but rarely. I like the idea of plastic cups and the drinks token system with regards to the environment, it keeps the pool areas tidy from plastic cups, but being limited to one drink per person with such small cups can be tedious. The main strip in Pefkos is fabulous, we had many a good night down there, including an afternoon/evening in nearby Lindos. There are a number of restaurants and bars to choose from in Pefkos, we weren't disappointed. We visited Plakia Beach on one of our days, lovely beach with sunbeds available to hire and a beach bar in close proximity. I'm happy to have experienced Rhodes and would be happy to return to the country, and even Pefkos, but to a different hotel and one that wasn't quite so far out.

Our visit was tarnished with items being taken from our hotel room along with cash. When reported, no apology, no real concern or offer too look into the situation. We asked from there that no cleaners would go into the room , as they were unable too prove who had entry. Food was very poor , very cramped in breakfast and dinner area and hot. Snacks in afternoon and kids only slushies again really poor, generally run out of slush in a hour. Pool area, decent , although generally buzy at pool bar and poor offering of all inclusive drinks.

Loved every minute thank you chris and team . It was clean tidy food was ok but iam fussy the buses were brill.the cup system it's a pest coz my memory isn't good lol but hubby loved the cup plan kids loved it so all good x

Still here in the Ilyssion hotel. Booked through Love Holidays . The Ilyssion has and will never be a 4 star. 2 star at best and that is being fair to the staff who do say hi . Please don’t make the mistake we and many others have made . The staff are so rude . The breakfast is poor . Lunch is marginally better . But not great . The snacks for children very poor . One sometime two staff on the pool bar . The only one open during the day . Massive queuing and irritated holiday makers . Tokens for 1 during per person fair enough . No alcohol till 12 . They state slush drinks for children between 15:00 - 16:00 . But when it runs out shortly after 15:30 the don’t bother re filling . Just turn it off. Not in the interest of the kids . Dinner poor . I’m not one for ever reading or wrighting reviews. But please be aware it’s not what it’s being sold as . Also they demand the holiday room tax at 10 euro a day in cash no cards .

Please read below for the HELL of an experience we had at Ilyssion: Upon arriving at 23:45 after a over 12 hour travel day, we were greeted with no complimentary drink or food as well as no access to the usual all inclusive amenities and was only offered to buy our own snacks at the mini market. Also upon arrival you will not be greeted and helped by any member of staff to help carry your cases or locate your room. On top of this AC (which was advertised as free of charge) requires a 30 euro deposit per room. The rooms could not be any worse, our rooms were infested with ants crawling on the beds and floor (see attached pictures). Upon telling reception about our ant problem on night 1 we were given a sponge and soap to clean the room ourselves and told to change our own bedding (see attached). Also, the magnetic key to turn on your electric for your room is welded to your room key which means you will have to lock the door in the dark and come back to a hot hotel room. The rooms themselves are NOT even 2 star quality. You will arrive to a outdated disgusting bathroom, beds that are sure to break your back and balcony doors that will not lock. With our party having to spend the first night with a broken door accessible from the outside in a room situated on the ground floor. Bed sheets are towels also had yellow, brown and red stains on them. Another issue with the rooms was broken railing inside the room and on the balcony as well as plug sockets hanging out from the wall exposing live wires which like us if you have children is a huge risk and like all other issues, upon being reported to reception was not resolved for multiple days. Food and Drink This hotel should be ashamed to call itself all inclusive with breakfast having one double toaster for a 110 room hotel and only two hot drink machines that did not work, which led us to buy our own hot chocolate powder. The eating area itself was extremely miserable and dark with limited seating including one time when our party of 8 attempted to put tables together and was denied by staff who claimed that it was blocking a door however that door was locked throughout our whole stay. In terms of lunch- the selection is extremely poor with cold food (that should be warm) such as unidentifiable meat (see attached pictures) even the staff who ate after the guests where often visibly confused about what they were putting on the plate. On top of this the food at the supposed BBQ-style lunch was often re-used dinner from the previous night. Dinner itself often was poorly themed and yet again had horrific selection of food. On one of the first nights was a Indian-food theme and dishes such as Korma and Tikka Masala often included chunks of meat that were warm on the outside and fridge-cold in the middle- leading to every member of our party having food poisoning during our stay with two members throwing up multiple nights in a row.
