Absolutely appalling experience at the Mamma Mia Brunch at Stanley House Hotel & Spa on March 30th. I booked this as a special Mother’s Day treat for my mum and grandmother, but it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. The bar situation was a disaster—no directions, painfully slow service, and nowhere near enough staff. The nearest bar refused to serve us, and cash wasn’t accepted, which wasn’t mentioned in advance. By the time we finally got drinks, brunch had already started. The food was a joke—cold, severely lacking in quantity, and poorly organized. There was no proper system in place, meaning many guests (including us) didn’t get a full meal. The buffet was never adequately restocked, and given the ticket price, this was unacceptable. The entertainment was a mess—starting 30 minutes late with people blocking the stage, plus a terrible sound system with constant feedback and poor balance. The tribute act performed for barely an hour By halfway through, a huge number of guests had already left. With the amount of money taken from tickets and bar sales, there’s no excuse for such a poorly run event. To top it off, offering a 50% off voucher as compensation is an insult—why would I want to return after such a terrible experience? I also have a wedding to attend at this venue later this year, and after this, I have serious concerns about the standard of service. Absolutely unacceptable.
