An adorable boutique hotel with an amazing breakfast. We spent two nights at Volcanic Charming House and were impressed by the spacious common areas, the large clean comfortable bedrooms, and the heated swimming pool. We spent a few rainy days touring the island, yet were able to enjoy a warm evening swim with an outdoor temperature of about 14 degrees. Patrons are welcome to use the fully equipped and spacious kitchen (Guests get their own numbered cupboard in the kitchen with dishes, cutlery, glasses, and towels) as well as refrigerator space. The morning breakfast buffet was fresh, diverse, abundant, and delicious! I kept thinking that this would be a fantastic location for a wedding or a great shared space when traveling with a large group of friends. On the first morning of our stay, there were only a few people in the dining room. On the second morning of our stay, the dining room was full since outside customers also chose to gather here. The main entrance has fob access to help maintain privacy. I will definitely recommend this location to others. Top notch!

We didn't get to stay here overnight but we had a dinner party here the night before our wedding with 50+ guests and Vanessa and her team were amazing!! The event space is beautiful and they put up gorgeous decor for no additional charge. Everyone was saying how amazing the food was even weeks later! All the staff were so helpful and friendly! Definitely will be staying here the next time we visit the island.

My wife and I stayed at the Volcanic Charming House for 8 nights, everything was fantastic. To start, our flight was cancelled from Sao Jorge and we were booked on a much later flight landing on Sao Miguel at 12: 50 AM. We messaged the Volcanic Charming House about this, they said; “no problem, we will have someone meet you to check you in when you get there (2:00 AM)”. Our room was very clean and elegantly arranged. The common areas have been designed with every detail thought out carefully. The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of fresh fruit. Staff friendly and helpful. We give the Volcanic Charming House our highest recommendation.

The Volcanic Charming House is simply the best small hotel I've ever stayed at. Good location on the island. We were able to mostly walk to restaurants and stores and to the beach. The property is clean and kept up beautifully inside and outside. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful with any and all questions we had. The breakfast was awesome every day! I would highly recommend staying at the Volcanic Charming House.

Our group of 9 stayed at this lovely boutique accommodations. The hotels support team arraigned help with transportation, tips on tours, someone to prepare dinner for our group, and we were connected with expert tour guides who helped us maximize out trip (all at very affordable prices). The rooms are warm, welcoming, comfortable beds, fluffy towels, soft lighting with modern amenities. The food is delicious, many healthy choices, and always bountiful. I would return in an instance. We are leaving with many happy memories of our stay at this sweet hotel. Thank you Volcanic Charming House staff for all your support and kindness.❤️

We stayed here for a few days, and it surpassed my expectations. First, we were welcomed by the reception which was very helpful in every way (guidance on the island, weather, etc.). Next, the house and garden are both beautiful. Also, the place of the house on the island is perfect to visit any part of the island. We loved our stay here!

My niece and I stayed in the separate house in the back of the Volcanic Charming House property in Ribiera Grande on Sao Miguel -- it's a lovely little 2 bedroom place with kitchen facilities and a shared bathroom. It is not for everybody as the front of the house is basically 2 enormous picture windows, so if you like to walk around in light or no clothing, it's not the place for you -- but it was absolutely perfect for us (the property provides robes so you can wear those). The service is exceptional, the level of hosting is fantastic. Daniel, Alder (I am not spelling this right), et al were so helpful, thoughtful and considerate. They really made the stay special, helping with concierge type services (getting us a pickup to get a car as we came in late and could not secure a rental car at the airport when we arrived) and recommendations. We were thrilled with our space and the level of professional but kind service received at Volcanic Charming House. Would stay again without any qualm whatsoever.

Wonderful stay! We were here for a week and had an amazing time. Clean and comfortable rooms ((we booked the entire house) , fantastic breakfasts , great location. We walked everywhere and had super recommendations and bookings for scuba diving, meals, local shopping and numerous island tours. This was a superb vacation! I hope to bring our family back next year for a reunion and would happily book 2 houses as they have several properties. Thank you for a wonderful break!

Loved this place. The concept is like a boutique hostel with a shared living space and kitchen but very nice, large, private rooms. Everywhere we went was always spotless while we were there. It’s well located within a 10 minute walk of the main touristic areas of Ribeira Grande. Plenty of parking available. The pool and the bar area are nice although we didn’t use them much as we were out and about. We found it was a great place to base ourselves to explore the whole island as it’s pretty central and easy to get to and from. They provide towels for the beach and also different towels to use at the hot springs.
