The Roade House

The Roade House can be found in the small village of Roade across the motorway from Northampton. Our breakfast was well cooked, hot and served with a friendly smile. Quality of the ingredients felt moderate to good, which meant that it felt expensive. There are other options in the villages near by that I will probably try before rushing back.

Checked in to be greated by a very heavy smell of dogs. It was very strong and we mentioned it to the staff who said they were pet friendly. We like animals but it was too much for us. The quadruple bed room was actually two singles pushed together as a double, and a cot futon bed. No sign of the fourth bed. The tea bags were water stained, and the tray and glasses were dirty. We used our own glasses and tea bags. There was no hot water for a shower, or even a shower mat, so after a uncomfortable night we left early for home. The room looked fine and the bathroom too but that was about it. No offer of compensation or partial refund just a sorry it was not what we expected. Loked great on the internet but not in practice sadly. Had so much better for paying lots less for 1 night.

We have just returned from an amazing weekend at Roade House celebrating my Sister’s 40th birthday. Paul and Maxine put together a tailor made package for us which included yoga, meals, over night stay and breakfast. Like a mini retreat! Nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable- 4 of us sharing a large room and there was plenty of space. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Surrounding area was very quiet, no noise from other rooms etc. Maxine’s yoga classes were of course a highlight and breakfast was very tasty. The hotel and the cafe were very busy off the back of Four in a Bed however nothing was too much trouble.
