This may be the worst hotel/motel I have stayed in -- ever! The room was dingy and it just felt like it was dirty and dank (it may not have been, but dirt has a way of getting embedded as the years go by and rooms are not updated, and this room had not been updated in a very long time, if ever). If this property had a room that they never assign to guests unless it is the last room left, this would have been it. This is a room that should NEVER have been assigned. The room was large enough, but was spartanly furnished. It had a king-sized bed, but the sheets barely fit the top of the bed, and were left hanging partway down the side of the mattress. The room provided a table (no drawers) in a corner. The only chair was an old, faded desk chair whose adjustability was broken; there was no lounge chair for anyone else to sit in; a second guest would have to sit on the bed. The front desk brought up a banquet chair from one of the conference rooms. There had been a sofa along one wall (there certainly was room for it!), but it had been removed, leaving all kinds of scuff marks on the wall, which had not been painted in years. Long walls had zero electric outlets on them. When I complained about the room, the front desk told me there were no other rooms with king beds, and offered a room with two queens. It would have been difficult for us to move, as we had dinner reservations, and we didn't want a queen bed. Since we were leaving first thing the next day, we decided to suck it up and just enjoy our dinner and then get away from there in the morning. We did complain to national customer service, who then spoke to the property, but there was nothing that could be done as there were evidently no other rooms with kings. Customer service did offer to give us some points. Sadly, the front desk staff took this personally, as one of them texted me. But there was nothing they could do -- it was the GM who never should have let this room be assigned in the first place, not the fault of the front desk staff. Sadly, from the message she had sent me, she took it personally. It was just a very bad situation. The property could have not charged us for the night, but they did not. Bottom line: this property and its management have much to learn about the hospitality business. This room was not inexpensive, costing $266.92 plus tax for one night.
