I had a great time staying 5 nights at the lodge, exploring nearby cities and nature by bus and the bike from the lodge. (2 bus lines within few minutes walk) Martin is a great, warm host. The house is beautiful, with comfy beds, clean bathrooms, a well equipped guest kitchen and nice big living room space with fireplace to socialize, read and relax!

We had a great stay and found the shared dorm room cozy and comfortable. The owners greeted us on our arrival and were warm and friendly. The other guests were considerate and respectful. The whole place feels calm and well managed. The kitchen is clean and we appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea. I was a little unsure of staying in a coed dorm with my teenaged daughter but it was absolutely fine and we had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

We booked 2 families of 4 at the hostel for four nights. We could have easily stayed longer. The living spaces were ample for indoor play and there was plenty to see in the surrounding area. CLiff Gilker park is within walking distance and we spend the whole day at the beach with a family of sea lions!

Unprofessional. Not hospitable at all. A complete disaster. Rude. Rude. Rude. Do not stay here if you want a safe place to stay. The owner is aggressive and quick to anger. Be prepare to have someone go through your personal items including the garbage.

Chris and I happened on this by chance .. we are in our 80s and not bikers or backpackers but thoroughly enjoyed staying at Up The Creek. The host, Martin is very welcoming, full of useful information as to sights to see etc. The lodge is charming, it has very welcoming feeling. Lots of nooks and crannies inside and out to relax. Loved that there’s an emphasis on community and pays attention to recycling. We wished that we could’ve stayed longer.
