Rochester Marriott Mayo Clinic Area

Good location. Clean room. Bed and pillows is ok. Breakfast is great!

We have stayed here many times. It is a great location for appointments at Mayo Clinic as it is connected to the Subway and close walking distance even outside. The restaurant is consistently good with very good service. The rooms are basic but clean. We really, really wish there was decent coffee and real cups in the room. The towels could also use refreshing. We got housekeeping despite declining which we didn’t like as we left all of our things sitting out. The housekeeping was also very loud in the halls and it took forever. It was hard to relax and nap between appointments. Pool looks nice but have not used it.

The best thing about this hotel is David in the Concierge Lounge. He goes above and beyond to make everyone feel special. Looking forward to the renovation as it’s definitely not my favorite place to stay, but so convenient! We went twice in August and the first time the fridge froze our drinks which exploded and was a huge mess and the second time our sheets didn’t fit and we woke up to our legs being on the mattress pad which was a huge yuck. We are going back in September and hope it’s an uneventful, pleasant stay. The bellmen/valet staff are also very pleasant and helpful!

This review (rated Excellent) is specific to David, who works the breakfast shift at the Concierge Lounge on the 8th floor. David provides exceptional service, "doing more than he's paid to do," as the saying goes. He greets you with a smile, good energy, and a coffee and may even pull out your chair for you. He knows hospitality, but more importantly, he knows how to be kind and lead with love. That is what David is: a leader who leads by example and builds his team up. (A woman who works alongside him possesses that caring trait for the people she serves and the food itself, ensuring all is in order.) I cannot say enough about David's stewardship and generosity/genuineness. He has a compassionate heart and a beautiful soul. Every team should have a "David."

My mom and I stayed here in July when I had to be seen at the Mayo Clinic. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfy. Staying here made our 10 days stay worth being away from home for 10 days. The restaurant was very good and we enjoyed room service. There were a few staff members that really stood out Roni, Anna, and Ricardo helped us with all of our needs to make sure our stay was fantastic. We will be staying here again in a couple of months.

I ate at Salute on the patio and my waitress Natalie was super sweet and attentive. The supervisor Andre also checked in on me and the food, seems like everyone works great as a team! Would definitely come again. Keep up the great work at Salute!

Attending Mayo Clinic…..not for vacation. They tend to keep you here longer than you would expect, so our room reservation ran out. Roni, Guest SVC Agent, made the extra effort to get us extended so we did not get put out. Thank you Roni. Marvin and Dorothy Childers

Pros: Location. If you are visiting Mayo, the location is perfect. Simply take the elevator to the subway level, walk past a few shops and restaurants, and you are there. The staff were friendly and the on-site restaurant is a nice place to grab a drink. Free coffee in the lobby is a nice touch, too. Room was clean. Cons: The room is a bit dated and needs an update. Workout room equipment is good, though the room was way too hot and there were no towels available anywhere. It is also not open until after 6am. Parking is also challenging. You are supposed to be able to park at the Kahler Grand, but it was not available. And do NOT make the mistake and try to park at the Kahler Inn, which has the worst, scariest parking garage ever. Easiest thing? Just valet at the Marriott and call it a day.

The outside of this Marriott property looks very nice! But don't let the outside fool you! This Marriott property on the inside is a sad situation. As other reviewers have noted, this property is way overdue for a complete renovation. And I mean complete! Obviously, the owners of this Marriott hotel are taking advantage of Mayo Clinic guests who are attracted to the Marriott label. But this is not at the level of the vast majority of Marriott properties.
