Great location. Older hotel but very clean. Mattress great and bedding clean. Central heat not great but they give you an electric space heater, so you are cozy. Friendly accommodating staff. Wonderful breakfast that you order the day before. I recommend staying here.

A huge thank you to the manager and staff of the Victoria Hotel, Rothesay who kept me working remotely from Bute in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn this week when I had no power early in the week and no internet access all week. I am very, very grateful to you all. Thank you for all your warm-hearted kindness; letting me use your warm and comfortable lounge, the super breakfasts and the very many cups of coffee. I will highly recommend the Victoria Hotel to anyone who asks me where is a good place to stay on Bute!

We went to the restaurant at the Victoria Hotel for our Christmas Day Lunch, booked in advance. From first enquiry to service on the day the staff were so helpful, pleasant, welcoming and efficient. The food was all very well cooked and presented, lovely and hot main course and good portions. We enjoyed it and thought it was excellent value for money.

This hotel is located right in the main area of the island. It is everything you would want whilst stopping in for one night however after being there for a week the place takes its toll. The room is very basic and outdated with not very many facilities within. The tv is tiny and has no apps on it and also the hdmi ports do not work. The place is clean but need renovations as it is very behind the times. The dinner from the hotel is just a short walk around the corner to the esplanade hotel and the food is unbelievable, great choice on the menu and the portions are huge.

Ghillie’s restaurant. Absolutely excellent first class fresh tasty food. Lovely welcoming staff and very reasonable prices. Visited twice on our holiday. The vegetarian sweet potato and beetroot welllington was once of the nicest dishes I’ve had for a while. Can’t recommend highly enough

A nice place to stay with great views over Rothesay bay. Access is a potential problem as there is a steep flight of stairs to reception and more stairs to our room. The food was good and breakfast looking out over the bay was great. The room was clean and comfortable.

Stumbled in this restaurant whilst struggling to find somewhere to eat. Excellent menu choice with something for everyone. Welcoming and friendly staff and a nice clean an modern interior. Really tasty food and fair prices, with excellent view of the bay.

We stayed at the Victoria Hotel for 4 nights in March 2024, as we were on a working holiday the facilities were perfect, a lovely clean and cosy room with fantastic views overlooking the bay and beyond. Ian the Hotel manager was very welcoming and friendly as were the other members of staff who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was served by the lovely Angela with a great choice, breakfast room again with the views of the bay. We recommend this Hotel if visiting Rothesay for its service and location and above all such a warm welcome.

Wonderful setting - minutes from the ferry terminal. Lovely views from the bedroom across the sea. Excellent food (huge breakfast!) The restaurant serves such wonderful and varied food. Very friendly staff. HOWEVER: it is impossible to get into the hotel Bar, let alone the accommodation without climbing stairs,. We were OK: but that's important for many folk.
