The hostel is really central, you can find free parking on the next street near the gardens. The place is pretty clean and the staff is so friendly and welcoming, downstairs there's a cozy common area where you can socialise. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, pots, pans and everything you may need to cook.

I spent almost three weeks in Rotorua Downtown Backpakers, and I had an amazing stay ! The staff is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable, checking that everything is fine. The hostel is just next to the i centre, very well situated. Very clean rooms, they clean everyday, and comfy rooms. The kitchen is big, so you have room to cook even when there are more people. Plus, there is a nice social place just next to the kitchen, perfect to have a nice chat and meet other backpackers. I recommand !

The location is great, easy walk to town, however there is no proper car park. It’s good if you come for a night, that’s free, but in the daytime you need to keep moving your car around as you have to pay everywhere and there’s a limited parking. The bed was good, comfortable. I was happy the kitchen got lots of utensils, so i could cook. Lot of people were around and really noisy. I had a good night though. I would only stay again, if I didn’t have another option.

Febin was really welcoming when I called and explained my bookings. Friendly staff, clean and great place to stay. I highly recommend this stay. The kitchen was clean and had some utensils and cutlery unlike other places which had nothing...

Couldn't sleep as the other people from the room were talking loud until 4.30 in the morning. They should make quiet times policy after 10pm and all guest to respect that and go outdoors if they want to stay up late. It was the worst night I have had.

A decent place - misleading as they say there is parking but either you pay for it or you have to keep moving your car around. It also has a clique atmosphere and clearly lots of friends hang out here. Nice touch to get free tea coffee ice and pasta.

The room was dark and dirty. We found hair clippings on the low window sill and the pillow cases were visibly dirty. On our last day, we found cockroaches in the corner of the room. The staff were friendly and the communal spaces were welcoming.

Booked months in advance, when we arrived there was no one at reception to let us in. We decided to go do an activity and came back a few hours later. There was still no one at reception, despite calling and ringing the bell for half an hour no one answered or came to let us in. We were forced to spend a lot more money at another hotel as most places were already full. Absolutely disgusted.
