This quaint hotel is about 1-km walk from the train station. Located in the old Rouen, it is perfect for visitors wishing to explore on foot the old streets with its timber-frame houses. No free parking nearby. A couple of grocery stores about 5-min walk away. The room itself was on the ground floor next to the kitchen and garden (beautiful flowers!). In the afternoon, during teatime, one could hear people talking and some noise from the kitchen but in the evening, it was very quiet. And cool. The room had no air conditioning but, being on the ground floor, was probably the coolest in the old building. It was also somewhat spacious and had a large bathroom with the usual toiletries. The 2 single beds were reasonably comfortable. Everything was clean. One small note: a ventilation fan was running constantly nearby and was a bit noisy. I asked if it could be shut down and the owner did close it for the night. Just a matter of asking. For its category, this hotel offers good accommodation for the price. Just keep in mind it's a very old building with its quirts but that's part of the charm.

Le Vieux Carre is conveniently located to all the sites in Rouen. The rooms are basic but the public areas are comfortable. Since we spend most of our time out of our hotel room, basic was fine for us. The breakfast is basic -- breads, a few meats and cheeses, coffee. The hotel is very popular for lunch and afternoon tea. I second the other reviewers comments about the parking -- definitely make sure you know how to access the parking at the Palais de Justice. We drove around for a while trying to follow a street sign that pointed in the wrong direction and finally just happened upon the entry.
