Discovery Parks - Roxby Downs

We booked into this park for two nights. We were advised that there were two areas we could use - at the top of the park and if you wanted to use the laundry it was free or down towards the back of the park used for camping - you pay for laundry if using this spot. We decided to go down the back of the park as it was quieter away from the road and had a nice outlook and birdlife. As there was only one other van in the 5 caravan spots allocated we moved over so not to be on top of the them. We enjoyed a great night. Facilities at this end of the park leave a bit to be desired as the toilet and shower cubicles are very small and there really is nowhere to dress after your shower. Enjoyed a day exploring the area to return to find another caravanner parked right next to our van to the point we could hear him chewing his food as he sat about 2ft from our van windows which we had to close plus the blinds. I realise this is not anything the park staff can do anything about but with 5 spots to select from why put someone right next to another customer. As the noise and behaviour became a little intolerable, we were advised we could move to another spot or we could make a lot of noise, turn up the tele or radio, so we packed up rehitched and move to the front of the park. Interestingly, the facilities here are lovely, very spacious and great cubicles. Yes sounds like a little thing but our experience was dampened - if the park had been full then yes you know you will be next to other campers. After moving into a new spot the next caravan that arrived was put next to us with admittedly a little bit of a gap between this time. It is the little things that make a place memorable and one you would not recommend.

This place was obviously built to a high standard. Our cabin was spacious, clean, quiet and well equipped. The stove was welcome and the air conditioner was proficient. There was a BBQ area just outside the cabin. We appreciated the table which we used for eating and for laptop work. The wi-fi was fine and the beds were comfortable. However our $215 a night cabin showed small signs of neglect: a front step in a poor state of repair; a vanity in need of care; a blind which didn’t work; hot water which was so tepid I could hold my hand underneath it without concern. These could be a sign of financial distress or – hopefully not – a management which doesn’t care. I hope they are not on a slippery slope which begins with minor failures like these.

Top spot for our tents and use of camp kitchen so neat and tidy everything in one area , short walk out back to club for good meal after big ride from Cameron's corner, absolutely lovely staff great lawn area between tents and bbq , amenities excellent

Not big rig friendly sites are small an the roads are tight had to unhook the trailer to get out of the park Lovely manager But the park is not set up for big rigs No pool Wouldn’t stay here again They are mine oriented not their for private customers

Very warm, kind, organised and welcoming on our arrival. Explained all the facilities really well and very helpful offer of any other information for food, activities etc... Nice touch with a welcome goodie pack. Gave us a choice of sites in the low season which was appreciated and we took the opportunity to move to a different caravan site that suited better. We couldn't fault this place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We arrived late on Saturday when the office was closed. My wife phoned the after hours number and spoke to the efficient and pleasant lady who runs the park. No cabins were available but the owner kindly gave us the access codes to the boom-gate, the camp kitchen and ablution block and said we could pitch our tent in the camping area and that we could sort out the fee in the morning. We were delighted to find a great spot for the tent under some trees and that the showers and kitchen were impeccably clean and well-appointed. Had we been so inclined we could have packed up in the morning and just nicked off without paying but we'd never betray the trust placed in us. When we thanked the owner for her generosity the next morning she gave us two little boxes with biscuits, cheese and other snacks for the road. Service like this is very uncommon these days.
