We stayed at Whales Bay Hotel for 8 nights in September 2024 with our 3-year-old son. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, even before our arrival, helping us adjust our reservation to match our flight arrival time. Once there, we found a spacious apartment with everything we needed for cooking. The rooms are large and there's plenty of storage. With our child, we enjoyed the pool, the playground, the golf area, and the game room. I would recommend this hotel to any family looking for a comfortable and well-located place to stay. We were truly delighted with our stay on Sao Miguel!

Wonderful property. Very close to the ocean. Spacious, modern- plenty of room with two teens. Beautiful pool. Just 20 minutes out of the Ponta Delgada city center. Susanna was highly attentive to our needs, even helped us with restaurant reservations. Highly recommend.

There were so many good things about Whales Bay. We stayed in a 2 BR, 2 bath penthouse apartment with a full kitchen and wrap around balcony with an amazing view of the ocean. The pool and grounds were lovely and the staff went above and beyond in making recommendations on what to see and where to eat. However, of the 4 pieces of gym equipment, 2 were broken. The jacuzzi was not in service. Within the apartment, the couch fabric was peeling off and hot water was sporadic. Several times we had to heat up water in the kitchen and pour it into the bathtub in order to take a bath. I appreciate that they are using solar panels to heat the water but there needs to be a backup system (I had to take a cold shower the morning we left.) The location was about 20 minutes from the action of Ponta Delgada and within an hour of all the beautiful sights of Sao Miguel. Even though Whales Bay could use some updating, I would stay there again.

Excellent appart-hôtel, vraiment bien équipé. Le personnel est très sympa. Nous étions 3; nous avions notre chambre et notre enfant avait le lit (canapé lit) du salon qui se replie facilement. Il y avait tout, y compris machine à laver la vaisselle, plaque à induction, et micro ondes. Les pièces sont spacieuses et il y a un grand balcon pour y prendre les repas. La piscine est top (avec eau de mer et à débordement), idéale pour les enfants car peu profonde sauf au bout et on la voit de l'appart ce qui permet de surveiller les enfants. On a aussi essayé le sauna, le hammam qui étaient très bien. Il faut avoir une voiture de location (il y a un grand parking gratuit). C'est bien placé pour profiter de nombreux sites touristiques. Il y a une petite plage à côté qui ne paye pas de mine, mais on y a passé une bonne après midi à chercher les poissons et on a même vu une murène.
