Spent two nights in the Gielas building, Location of this hotel is great, it is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and a supermarket. Also close to the walk up to the Aurora hut to view Northern Lights. Rooms were clean but a little dated. smallest flat square pillows, so uncomfortable. Single beds. Disappointed shower over a bath as it can be hard to get into and dangerous getting out. Used the sauna once, which was the best thing in the room and good use of a dryng cabinet. The balcony actually served a good purpose, to put beers out in the snow and also as we were facing the right way early one morning I got the Northern lights. Breakfast had a very limited selection at the buffet. Not good and the restaurant staff were far from friendly or helpful. Fancy one 4 slice toaster for numerous guests all standing around waiting. One male member approached me for "taking something from the buffet to my room" Oh my a glass of milk to have medication with. The embarrassing antics he put was unacceptable. Considering others walked out with food. The dinner we had as a group was just ok, nothing to bang on about. This is your typical 2.5-3* hotel nothing more. Much room for improvement. Hopefully the owner reads the reviews. Unless you have to stay here, perhaps view other hotels in the vicinity first.

Location of this hotel is great, it is walking distance to shops, restaurants, and a supermarket and about a 15 minute walk to saariselka ski and sport resort. Rooms were clean but a little dated. Breakfast had a decent selection at the buffet.

This hotel has very large and comfortable rooms. Even included a sauna in the room. The lounge area was very roomy and comfortable. The on downside was that the shower was over the bath. Breakfast was served in an adjoining building and was a let down, the food was often cold and not much variety.

We booked through Santa's Lapland and their team were fabulous. Saariselka was a picture post card place. We booked the 3 night 4 day package, will book 4 night next time. The extra activities we did husky ride and snowmobile search for northern lights on Christmas day unbelievable. Then saw the northern lights later that night.

We are hear in winter, the town ship beautiful. We entered our room, 2 single narrow beds (all rooms have single beds) with very small pillows, we had to order another two. Good size rooms with corner lounge. Only 4 non English TV channels although we scoured Indiana Jones on TV in English. Please note : rooms are not cleaned on sundays, even if you put a room hanger outside to clean, they just ignore it, you must ask reception as a special request but they do not tell you this. The morning breakfast starts at am & is minimal at best. their extended hotel across the road starts at 7 am & is much better. A lovely cloths warmer/dryer. A lovely Sauna in the bathroom. The dinner was very nice & large. The staff very friendly

The rating I have given is purely for the hotel but I will comment on some elements of our experience from the TUI side of our holiday at the end. A few things to bear in mind when reading this: 1. We had researched this hotel before we came so knew what to expect and as a result only booked B&B. This is a 3* hotel remember regardless of what it costs. 2. We travel a lot and stay in a huge variety of places ranging from 3* B&B to 5* Hotels so have balanced expectations. 3. It was -30c when we were in Lapland. 4. We flew on a 6am Gatwick flight in mid December 24. 5. Family of 4 with 6 & 8 year olds. Hotel facilities: Pretty basic, the hotel is split into a number of buildings the food being served in the ‘Main’ reception building other buildings were about 400m from one another you need to be careful walking a scan be slippery. We were in Gielas building it was ok, typical Europe 3* hotel corridors a bit battered carpets stained lifts quite small. Had a few drinks in the bar €4 for a soft drink €9 for a beer. Staff very friendly. Room: Very very basic but clean, beds comfy walls a bit battered. Our room was warm we had a family room with a balcony which was quite cramped for 4 people but we weren’t in it for long. Didn’t use the sauna. The bathroom seemed to have been renovated and was a bit odd with a tin bath not attached to the wall so water fell down the sides onto the wet room style floor when having a shower. This meant the floor was very wet. Towels not changed i our 3 day stay but tissues etc topped up. Clothes drying machine in room worked well. Free safe kettle cups and glasses all cleaned. Food: I was expecting it to be bad and it didn’t disappoint! We only had breakfast and the choice isn’t great, it’s extremely busy and they run out of things fast. The kids enjoyed the chocolate spread though. The most annoying thing was the two stupid little toasters that allow about 100 people toast 4 slices of bread at once. Ridiculous. I have also never had scrambled egg you can cut into slices, read into that what you will! No fresh orange juice the whole time we were there. Staff friendly and did their best but seems to not be enough of them. The ‘Gala’ dinner we had was a bit of a joke food wise very salty, not enough of it and it was cold. TUI: Flight good but 30 mins late lots of people to meet you and show where to go on arrival. Took ages to get the warm weather gear (lots of waiting around on the coaches for the other coach to be ready) was about 3 1/2 hours from landing to getting in our rooms despite only being a 24 minute coach ride from airport to hotels and the luggage coming out quickly. You do end up carrying a lot of stuff. We had 4 suitcases hand luggage and then two huge sacks of warm weather gear. Very difficult to manage with children in -30c. The most annoying thing was the stupid ’welcome meeting’ which they get you all off the coach for basically stick you in a big conference room and sell

Some of the reviews on this hotel are baffling and are quite the opposite of our recent trip (2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 9). We upgraded to a Gielas room which had plenty of storage space, a safe, tea/coffee, a sauna, balcony and relatively comfy beds. The room was quite warm, so much so we had to open the balcony door, despite sub-zero temperatures. We didn't hear any noise so managed to get a peaceful sleep. The rooms, cosmetically, were quite dated and basic, but again this was no surprise due to advanced research. You aren't in the room that long anyway. The food wasn't amazing, but satisfactory. Our expectations were met as we had done the sufficient research in advance. We weren't there for the culinary experience. Breakfast had cereal, toast, porridge, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausages (mini hot dogs), tea, coffee, pancakes. If you can't find something from that, then tough. Or, walk 15 mins to the supermarket. The festive gala, again wasn't brilliant food. Just ok. But the kids had a wonderful time dancing and singing which was worth it. The staff were friendly (both hotel and Santa's Lapland). The location was perfect. Gift shop opposite side of the road, snowmobile excursions a 2 min walk, toboggan slop less than 5 min walk and all other restaurants and bars are within a 15 minute walk. Aside from the hotel, we weren't pushed to purchase any additional activities and never felt pressured. My top tip is to do your research... Are prices of the trips, food and drink expensive? Yes. Is the food brilliant? No. Are the rooms basic but fine for the odd night? Yes. Will the hotels be full of 'overpriced' Santa trips? Yes, it's Christmas. Also, money is relative to each person. Is Lapland cold in December? erm, yes! None of the other reviews should really have come as a shock to those people.

I am a disabled women with 2 children i come with my sister and Mum. We booked through TUI and we have had such a terrible experience. No accessibility measure taken to accommodate my needs ramps a danger to use I will evidence this with pictures the sauna and balcony no accessible withing the room so that was yet another rip off of for the rate of the room. The room I was expecting it to be nicer more modern and the beds very uncomfortable thin pillows thin blankets freezing cold late night early hours the rooms are warm through the day and morning but come 10pm onwards freezing the gas central heating turns off like they have them on timers not being funny -27c and your putting heating on timers ridiculous really with small children and people who are not used to the extreme cold. Unfriendly not accommodating I don't bo what there views are on wheelchair users but I feel very un welcome. To also add I had to ask for house keeping and also my family who are in 2 separate rooms never have had there tea and coffee replenished. I would strongly advise to stay away from this hotel of booking with anyone who has mobility challenges. Alos very noisy motorbikes throughout the hourly hours.

Booked as part of a Santa's Lapland trip. Santa's Lapland and their reps are absolutely amazing. We had an absolutely magical time there. The location of this hotel is fabulous, but that is the only thing good about it. The room (267), although clean, was very dated. Beds were very uncomfortable, with only one small pillow each. The room was also extremely hot, we had no way of controlling the temperature in the room, the windows didn't open, and the curtains did not fit the window correctly. The food in the hotel was very disappointing. We got there for the beginning of service, but the food was cold. The choice was poor too. Myself and my daughter struggled to find anything that we like. Unfortunately the 'Festive Gala Dinner' was exactly the same experience. Cold, buffet style food, in containers that should have kept food hot but didn't. Having paid so much money for our 2 night stay in Lapland, we expected more from the hotel.

Stayed one night, that was plenty. Hotel has basically seemed to have brought out loads of other smaller hotels in the area so there are 6-7 different blocks all owned by same hotel. Stayed in a kontio room suite with sauna. Room itself was big, warm, comfortable but not particularly inspiring. We had a large balcony next to the hotel entrance. Breakfast was terrible. Food was low quality but served in a dark depressing room covered in 80s tinsel, not even the proper restaurant. It was clearly set up for all the package holiday groups that use this hotel and I would have hoped that those guests who had booked outside these package holidays would have been catered for elsewhere. Because the hotel is full of tui and Santa's lapland guests enjoying overpriced holidays, it is super busy and really lacks any class that it could have - like large bins for returning thermal suits left outside entrance doors, people blocking the entrance to the hotel and restaurant whilst hanging around waiting to be carted off on their bus and things like that. It may be a lovely place to stay in summer, but I'd suggest avoiding in December. If you want a quiet and more sophisticated trip to lapland, there are far better options (see my other reviews).

We stayed Xmas Eve for 3 nights as part of a TUI package. I was a little worried after reading so many bad or negative reviews, but honestly we had the best time! Yes the hotel is a little dated, but it has everything you need, we stayed in a superior twin in the Gileas building, and glad we did as we loved being slightly out the main busy area of the hotel. The few minute walk to the main building was not an issue like so many on here made it out to be. Breakfast was served in our building, so we didn’t have much need for the main building. Breakfast was a little below average, I think we just had tea and toast every morning, but again you don’t go away to expect a full English served up! Rooms were big enough and clean, nice balcony overlooking stunning views (we requested high floor for this reason) warm enough and handy drying racks for clothes! TUI were also brilliant by the way, again lots of bad reviews but it was well organised, and we had the best Christmas ever!! Xmas day we spent visiting Santa at santas creek, this was incredible from start to finish, we were last in to see Santa but the kids were happy playing in the snow and sat around the fire chatting to the elves. Boxing Day we spent on the taster day, I’m so glad I didn’t spend a fortune booking more experiences as these were plenty for us and our little ones, it was a great well organised day! Gala dinner at the hotel wasn’t the best, but again we went not expecting much, we had a drink and the kids had a blast, and it’s for them for than anything! I would 100% return, and do exactly the same trip!

Firstly, the majority of my grumblings are with TUI and I shall never use them again. Having said that, the hotel could have taken more control over their asset and customer service. I’ve tried to write this review several times in my head but it’s too complicated! The short story, similar to some others, I booked 3 rooms (in Jan 22, so well in advance) with balconies as a family of 6. I had a call from Tui, a couple of months before we travelled to say that there had been a mistake with the advertising and that there was only one room with a balcony. Being very polite and British, I accepted what they were saying and the £3 per person per night refund. The day before we travelled, I received an email from the Tui rep “Courtney Klaus” to make me aware that none of our rooms were in the same building. Not ideal when travelling as a family so I called Tui and expressed my concerns and dwindling confidence in them to deliver the 7k holiday I was expecting. “Don’t worry” I was told, someone would be with me through the entire check in and this would be sorted. Fast forward a day, arrived in the airport and taken for our snow suits (not the best use of time, I could think of other ways to do this), then onto the hotels. I was asked to get off the coach at the main reception to check the rest of the family in. Surprise surprise. They knew nothing about my phone call and I was given a map directing me around the various buildings on the complex. Went to speak to Courtney Klaus whose face said “I know what you’re saying but I couldn’t care less”. To add insult to injury, I asked about a snow mobile trip we had booked for the Friday (present day Wednesday) only to be told that trip was now going at 4pm that day! Having being up since 2am travelling and with 2 elderly parents who were not feeling on top form, it wasn’t an option to go bezzing around the forest for 2 hours so I asked if there was an alternative… Courtney said there was and she would happily get me booked on the Friday trip but I would have to pay more as it was an hour longer than the trip I’d paid £600 for (for the Friday)… by now I was concerned about my trip of a lifetime. A bit bewilded, I came out of the reception area to get back on the coach… no coach. No idea where it was and not especially dressed for searching for it in minus 15 temperatures. Through many frantic phone calls with my eldest and an elf 🤷🏼‍♀️, I found the rest of my family dumped about 5 minutes away outside another building. I’ve seen bail hostels better than this. We went back to the main hotel to try resolve the situation and get us in one place to be told we had to pay an extra £800 to get decent rooms(the rooms I had initially booked) but still not in the same buildings. We paid the extra as there was no way any one of us could have slept in the bail hostel. It’s not the hotels fault. Tui are 100% to blame and their lack of customer service is a disgrace. The hotel staff told us that Tui had made this mistake

Just on way home (reluctantly) from our 2 centre holiday with Inghams. We stayed at the Gielas wing of Hotel Tunturini then onto Wilderness hotel Moutka This was a trip of a lifetime/tick off bucket list holiday. Everything was amazing the organised trips Huskies, Reindeers, Snowmobiles, Snowshoeing and Toboggans!! Our Inghams Rep MATT was FIRST CLASS even before we stepped foot on the plane, we were nearly pen pals ! But as I have never done this holiday lots to ask ! Nothing was too much trouble for him and when I finally met him at airport it was like saying hello to a friend. Matt went out of his way to make sure everyone in our group had the best experience of their life and there were lots of people returning again this year as everything was so well lead. The food in the Gielas we had was a set menu, everything delicious! Food at Wilderness a buffet style but again everything delicious and everyone catered for GF Vegetarian etc. First night we were so lucky to see the Northern Lights and again twice more! I had originally booked this holiday just to see the Northern Lights, but there was so many BRILLIANT things to do even if you aren’t lucky enough to see lights! You won’t leave disappointed I normally do DIY holidays, but so glad we chose Lesley at Travel Counsellors and she chose Inghams ! MATTwe are going to MISS YOU so much, but we will be back …,.

Lots to like about this hotel. We appreciated getting a mini-apartment with a separate bedroom and living area with kitchen plus a Balcony, and the bathroom with sauna was great - showers always hot. There was also a big cupboard in the entrance way to dry coats and boots. The only downside of the apartment is that it’s a bit dated decor. We had to cross the road to the main building for meals, which was fine for us but worth knowing. We loved the food, lots of breakfast choices and different dinners. There wasn’t huge amounts of nice food (2 choices each night usually sausage/chicken nugget/pizza type food for kids but it was ok. The bar and dining area is really cosy and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The location of this hotel is the best. Opposite the ski/snowsuit hire shop and 5 mins walk to the toboggan run.
