St Michael's Manor Hotel - St Albans

What a fabulous place to stay ! A wonderful location, right in the middle of the beautiful old part of St Albans. Gorgeous gardens and , so pretty at this time of year. Plenty of parking . A lovely warm welcome from the reception team and we were blown away when we saw our four poster room . Our dinner was delicious, especially the beef which melted in the mouth. Lovely service in the elegant dining room. We had a great nights sleep. The breakfast buffet was amazing as was the cooked breakfast. We really enjoyed our special stay at St Michaels Manor, highly recommended.

Stayed here three nights and were very disappointed with the room. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and is tiny. We had to back in as there is no room to turn around. The shower room was nearly as bad and so small we had to dry ourselves in the room. At £206 per night this was very poor value. However the dining room was good and the staff excellent.

We took my wife for a surprise birthday lunch today and were delighted with the whole experience. There was a lovely menu, I had the beetroot infused trout followed by a steak. My wife had pork cheeks and a steak too, all very tasty with excellent service from Hepy and Nisha. Highly recommended.

We had 2 nights here to get away for a couple of days. The hotel is really lovely, in a beautiful setting beside the lake. It is tranquil and quiet which is just what we wanted. Room was nice , everything as expected. We ate in the hotel restaurant and had a lovely meal. We wanted to eat in the restaurant both evenings ,however, there was an event going on the second night so couldn't go in the restaurant so were forced to go out. We could have had a table in a side room but didn't fancy eating on our own! The hotel did telephone us a few days before to let us know about the event and asked if we wanted to join it but we declined. We just wanted to have a calm, quiet evening. Any event, wedding etc is held in the restaurant. Overall, a lovely place and would recommend to anyone but if you want to eat in the restaurant I would say to telephone them 3 days before to check if any event is being held in the restaurant ad you could then change your booking date if you are flexible with dates. Which is what we will do when we come again. We will come agin soon

We ate in the restaurant and the food, service, atmosphere and surroundings were as always superb. We have been before and actually held big birthday celebrations here a few months ago last September I can not recommend it highly enough. If you want to make small alterations to an item on their delicious menu, the chef is always accommodating.

Lovely lunch, had the set menu which was exceptional value for money. Had a lovely table, overlooking the lake so such a pretty setting. Our server Hepy was very sweet and took great care of us. I’d very much recommend it for a couple’s lunch and there were tables in having afternoon tea which looked delicious!
