Lower Barns Guest House

My boyfriend and I visited Lower Barns for a Valentine's weekend and also to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we arrived we adored Nook. Mike was extremely welcoming and friendly. The room (which is far more than just a room) was incredible. In the bathroom there's a tub for two with a rainfall shower and toiletries, soft fluffy towels etc. The bed is huge and clad with the best quality cotton linen I've ever slept on. There are stunning quirky little touches everywhere. Comfy sofa with a Roku TV and a folder of local information. A SMEG fridge contained milk, orange juice, fruit and yoghurt, and a cute little box of chocolates. In the kitchen area there was a wider selection of tea and coffee than Sainsburys, along with cordials. Even the kettle was cool! The sauna and hot tub made a potentially chilly evening extremely enjoyable and these guys are right when they say there's no light pollution. Lying in the hot tub stargazing up at the clear Cornish sky was pure bliss. I've never felt so relaxed as I did leaving Lower Barns and will most definitely be returning. I've even taken their postcard adverts to distribute to colleagues and friends because everyone should know about this hidden gem of a place.

The breakfast was AWFUL. Undercooked, we wrapped it up and took it home to cook it further. NO BEANS ?! I need beans on my full English :( No option for how you get your eggs cooked either. I expect more for £180 per night and a five star rating. Everything else was perfect : )

The website does not do this place justice! Think Mexican vibes meets shabby chic (but definitely more chic than shabby). Immaculately clean, beautifully warm and cosy, a touch of luxury but still comfortable, and all topped off with lovely service from Janie. Calm, quiet, magic. If you need a break to reconnect, we couldn't recommend more highly. We loved it!

Highly recommend this B&B, Lovely private room with outdoor area. We stayed an extra night as it was such a lovely place to stay, close to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Megavissey. Hosts Mike and Janie were so welcoming, serving up delicious breakfasts and nothing was too much trouble..

What a brilliant place! It’s beautifully decorated and nicely done, the hosts are lovely and very helpful, very tasty breakfast especially the bread, we couldn’t fault the facilities and the location, we will be bringing the family back for a stay!!

We had the most fantastic experience at Lower Barnes. It was just perfect. Mike & Janie were the perfect hosts, who thought of everything and paid attention to every little detail. Our Bohemian style suite, which was both very comfortable, with all mod cons, separate spacious bathroom with fantastic bath & shower , bright & beautiful, separate fully stocked kitchen with breakfast bar. A lovely freshly made breakfast brought to our room daily. Fresh orange juice, yoghurt, coffee, sour dough bread, all supplied in the kitchen and topped up. Even our own hot tub in our own personal private courtyard. We were married in the wonderful “love shack” which was an amazing experience. We had an excellent wedding meal freshly cooked by Janie. Mike did our wedding photos & took us to a secluded beach with amazing views and landscapes where we returned to, to explore further. We then went on to our private , intimate meal in the “party shack”, with amazing decorations & our fantastic wedding cake. Janie liaised directly with my stepdaughter to lay on a special surprise present , drink and card from our family which was a stunning surprise. We are certainly going to return for our anniversary next year & likely several more.
