Norfolk Hotel

Just returned from a week here and absolutely loved every minute. Classed as a basic hotel but I can honestly say it is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Our room was comfortable and had the walk in shower requested. Beds very comfortable Tea and coffee provided .The food in the dinning room was lovely and if you are lucky enough to have Ana as your server you will get to meet one of the sweetest girls who could not do enough for you. A good menu at the reasonable price of £24.50 for 3 courses. The bar area had something on 6 of the 7 nights we stayed ranging from live singers to bingo and a quiz night. Plenty of seating both inside and in the garden area. Small but adequate pool area with a table tennis table plenty of sun beds and towels provided at reception. The staff were fabulous and worked so hard to make it a pleasant stay . friendly ,knowledgeable and able to provide a wealth of local knowledge. We will most definitely visit again.

We have never been to Jersey before, so we were not sure which hotel to choose. As we were coming on the ferry with a car we needed a car park. The Norfolk hotel was centrally located, had a car park and decent reviews. There were plenty of spaces in the car park for cars the whole week we were there. First impression was how clean everywhere was and how friendly all the staff are. Lots of seating areas inside. Outside a pool area with lots of seating and a garden area with seating and a fish pond. We had a twin room on the 3rd floor over the car park, I had asked for a more quiet room, which it was. It was very hot at the time and our fan didn't work very well and a new fan was quickly found by georgio. The room was good comfy beds and plenty of hanging space and draws for clothes. Bathroom was a bit dated and the hot tap spluttered the water out, but not a problem. we didn't bother with the shower and had baths instead. Maybe more plug sockets, but we managed, also yes the telly is small but big enough for us also the bracket it was on ment I could turn it so I could watch it in the bath. 👍 Water was always hot. We only had breakfast not evening meal and you could have a full English or continental (croissant ham cheese and yoghurt) all served on a plate to your table. You could also have boiled, poached or scrambled eggs instead. Tea coffee and toast also brought to the table. Fruit juices, cereals and fruit are on a long table. For a 2 star we thought the breakfast was good. Best of all you got a teapot for your tea,👍 none of these fancy coffee machines that 4/5 star hotels have and you have to make do with a teabag and hot water!!! We only went in the bar once, as we were out and about at night time. But looked as if there was entertainment on most nights. You had to pay for a fill up on tea and coffee in the rooms, but that didn't bother us as I always take extra teabags anyway. Brian on the desk was very helpful, in fact all the staff on reception were. The cleaners the waiters were all friendly. We had Maria at breakfast on our table who was most pleasant and very efficient, you keep your table for the whole time you are there. Thanks Norfolk Hotel for a lovely first visit to Jersey, we would certainly stay again on return visits.

The staff are really great, hotel clean but the food is terrible! Such a shame as it was the one thing I was looking forward to. Orange juice tasted like orange squash, tinned carrots, peas, runner beans, watery soup. We had paid for half board but on two evenings we ate out. If you want tasty good food don’t book this hotel.

Travelled as part of a large group. I was pleasantly surprised after being told the hotel would be 2 star. The hotel itself is kept spotlessly clean although the swimming pool didn’t live up to this. Our room was on the ground floor and was meticulously serviced each morning, always ready when we returned at lunch time. The room itself was large enough with a reasonable sized bathroom . Yes it was dated in the decoration but there was more than usual storage for clothes and the bed was nice and firm. Where the hotel and restaurant fell down was in its rigidity to the rules the staff had to adhere to . No you can t have extra milk in the room, could we have another slice of bread for our soup - “no none left “ when there’s a basket full 2 tables away.You have to stick rigidly to the table seating , we sat at a used one for a change and they couldn’t reset it “ no more cutlery “ Very well sited 10 minutes to both the town centre and the beach , with bus stops very close. There’s a Morrisons right across the road for your snacks and toiletries which are not supplied in the hotel.

Arrived from the airport at 9.45am only to be told our room wouldnt be ready until 3pm, we had to ask what we should do with our luggage and then more or less told to go away till 3pm. 5 hours in the pouring rain and no idea where anything is....went back at 1pm in the hope that as we were there early they would get our room ready first, but no..3pm book in and no earlier...so we sat in the foyer for the next 2 hours. Room and hotel clean and tidy but very dated. Food...oh dear this was like being in a holiday camp! A choice of 3 starters,mains and sweets which never changed, 1 starter changed 1 main and 1 sweet. Our first meal was roast chicken, we expected chicken stuffing roast potatoes etc..but no.The plate came with a chicken leg 2 boiled potatoes,and some frozen peas and carrots. The sweets were either tinned fruit salad, sherry trifle without sherry and completely tasteless, a frozen gateaux of some description or cheese and biscuits. Edible but not as expected, reminiscent of school dinners! Breakfast, again always the same. A friend asked for the continental breakfast, her plate arrived with 1 crossaint 1 cheese slice of 1 of ham and a small pot of yogurt. I asked if i could have an omelette forgetting that that was one of the choices for evening meal and not available for breakfast! You also have to inform them at breakfast your choice for evening meal, and if you think you might fancy porridge...make sure you fancy it the day before as you have to order that too! The pool we did not fancy as it looked dirty, someone did try it out and had to fill out a questionnaire before hand. This hotel is clean and tidy and we think more for the older generation and probably bus trips. The gentleman on the front desk definitely needs to re train in customer relations as we believe he must have been off on the training day. Un-helpfull and a jobsworth ! On speaking to someone from the Merton hotel, (where we were moved to) the new arivals were given their room key on arrival, maybe the Norfolk could take a leaf out of their book.

Fabulous hotel, friendly and accommodating staff and generous breakfast. The rooms are a bit dated but it doesn't matter because everything else about our stay was excellent. It was an easy walk to city centre so we got a bus pass and went all over the island. There are lots of restaurants within a 5 min walk. It took us about 12 minutes with our suitcases to walk to the main bus terminal and the bus took us directly into the airport. We would stay here again without hesitation if we go back to Jersey.
