This place is fantastic! It is in a beautiful quiet location and the gardens and rooms are immaculately kept up. We stayed in a nice building next to the chateau on ground level so no need for stairs (cuz there are no elevators in the chateau). The rooms were cleaned every day. There were 2 beautiful pools to swim in. Parking was free and nearby. There was a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was delicious for dinner and breakfast was good, but they could vary the food instead of the same breakfast buffet each day. The reception desk was open til 11 pm and the staff was efficient and helpful. It is also very reasonable to stay at. It is centrally located in the Dordogne about 15 min drive to Sarlat. The only suggestion is to make the bedside tables bigger cuz they are too tiny. Otherwise a wonderful place to stay.

Exquisitely restored chateau, excellent attention to detail in Chateau itself Lovely location Family group of 9 - 4 adult couples +1 adult Really enjoyed our stay here, especially enjoyed the pool Bedrooms all gorgeous, only mistake we made was booking the Pavilion which wasn’t really suitable for 3 adults, and the Capri apartment - while gorgeous - not suitable for adult couples as the second bedroom accessed through the first Those were our only issues, and perhaps my own fault in booking Our host Babette was exceptional, extremely accommodating, and unobtrusive. Her continental breakfast was excellent and she went to the trouble of making gluten free bread & crackers - there were welcome drinks & nibbles also. Highly recommend.

4 days before arrival we asked the restaurant if they could do vegetarian. They said they would work something out. When we arrived, only the entre was vegetarian but was very small (nouvelle cuisine) with 4 asparagus arranged artistically on a plate withe dressing. Main choices were only Pork and fish, and they were also miniscule. They were obviously used to guests complaining because they provided plenty of bread! The food was very tasty for the others but with no vegetarian options we ate a lot of bread, expensive at 32 euros. Seriously, there are many vegetarians these days, French chefs need to keep up! Its not hard, they could make a mushroom pasta or risotto. Disappointing, especially when we had warned them about our preferences!

what a disappointment! the food was average, and not very pleasing to the eye- the service was ghostly - no one paid attention- the wait staff walked by as we poured our own wine- not even stopping to offer! no table cloth, no butter, no side dish for the bread, wrong cutlery ( knives ) for the dishes that they served - fish/meat - music too loud and inapropriate for the room/clientel.... are we in disco - service rushed.... why? desert was an apple confit with vanilla cream - except it came with a crumble with PEANUTS...... when we pointed out that the description made no mention of this and that one of our family members is allergic - the response was - that's your problem!..... serioulsy! never coming back so sad....

Wonderful stay!! The Manager was so welcoming with a glass of wine discussing where we might like to go and visit/eat. Our room was perfect, comfy bed, huge bathroom and a balcony with a beautiful view over the Dordogne river. A lovely old building so well cared for, beautiful garden and pool.

Booked the hotel the day before to stay one night on our way South. A nice surprise, hidden gem! Enough parking. Very clean rooms, good isolated (we stayed in the building next to the chateau) . Well maintained garden, pool and buildings. Friendly staff and excellent food for diner and breakfast. Price/quality very good. A place to return.

We stayed for just 1 night in a family room, i.e. a double and a twin sharing a bathroom - it was absolutely perfect: bright, beautifully clean, air con, little fridge where we could chill water etc. Pretty and extremely comfortable. Nice pool, we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant. V nice atmosphere and environment. Maybe limited on places to sit around and read a book or have a drink which I like in a hotel - but overall v good. p.s. we joined family who had stayed for a week in a self catering apartment, they had a great stay and plan to return.

Incredible! This is a beautiful property, the host is so welcoming and did everything to make us feel special but without being overbearing. It felt like we had our own private castle and hardly even noticed anyone else was there. All of the facilities that you could ever wish for in the most perfect location. Great to explore the vineyards. Quiet and scenic.

Two of us enjoyed three nights at the Domaine du Château de Monrecour. Our 2 twin-bed room was in the annex on the first floor. Entrance to the room is from the outside. Upon entering, there is one step down into the room. Once the door is locked, a key is required to unlock the door from the inside. The floor is tile. There are two large windows in the bedroom and one in the bathroom; all can be opened. The beds are comfortably firm. Towels are replaced each day. The bathroom has 2 sinks, a large towel warmer, and a large walk-in shower. There is a separate toilet room. Furniture consists of 2 straight-back chairs, a desk, a luggage stand, an armoire with hangers, and a cabinet containing a safe and a refrigerator. Everything in the room was very clean. The Domaine’s beautiful setting is on the side of a gentle hill overlooking the Dordogne valley. On our last night we enjoyed dinner at their restaurant. The décor, service, wine selection and food were all five-star.
