La Plantation

The Plantation guesthouse is great with awesome views. Our room was cozy and very clean. Breakfast was excellent and with lots of local and homemade products. We were on hiking holidays in La Réunion and booked our stays through an agency. The documentation said that check-in had to be before 1800. We were finishing a hike in Cirque de Mafate and on our way back to our precedent guesthouse in Hell Bourg to get our luggage before driving to la Plantation. Short distances take a lot of time to drive in La Réunion, some roads are in bad shape and often you can't drive faster than 30kmh. On our way to get our luggage we were pushed off the road by a bus in a tight turn on a winding mountain road, the bus just continued on and we were hanging in the ditch...not a nice experience. It took some time and a very helpful local to get the car back on the road. We arrived in Hell Bourg much later than planned because of this and realized we wouldn't be able to make it before 1800 to La Plantation so we called them in advance to let them know. From the start the person on the phone seemed annoyed with the news of our late arrival and let us know it quite clearly. Still she said they would be there and that we would arrive "when we arrive". So we took the road and drove to la Plantation, now very careful after our accident. We hit many bigger slow ups on main intersections and the highway, taking longer than google initially told us. Tired from our long hike and a bit set back because of the incident we were very much looking forward to our stay at La Plantation. On the way we got a call from the host, inquiring about our whereabouts...first I thought it was to make sure we were well....oh no definitely not, I got scolded by the lady that "it's not possible you take to long - it doesn't take so long to arrive here!" Ok wow how nice from her, she even accused us of having stopped somewhere...which we didn't...but even if we did ? She made it very clear how annoyed she was with our late arrival and that it was not possible that we check in by ourselves as they had to wait for us and show us the room. When we finally arrived at La Plantation sometime after 2000 the host was very cold and not particularly welcoming and showed us the property and our room. Tired, we didn't really think more about it. He didn't ask anything about our trip, or why we were late and didn't complain either. We went to sleep not thinking anymore about it. And by the way the hosts were still catering to the host table at this time so they were present at the house anyway even with our late arrival.... Beware...after a wonderful breakfast...the host reminds us several times of the check out time...strange but ok...telling us that he has to leave. We were ready on time and vacated the room, checking the internet in the sitting area outside the room. The host arrives and tells us we have to leave, in a very rude and aggressive manner. Leuk hotel met goede ligging voor maximaal 2 dagen. Wij hebben hier 11 dagen geboekt en kregen elke ochtend hetzelfde ontbijt 😡 (halfrauw roerei, worstjes, gebakken spek, plakjes ham en kaas. Croissantjes, chocoladebroodjes, brood met jam of Nutella, Yoghurt met 2 soorten cereals en banaan/sinaasappelen en klein schaaltje fruit). Wij hebben van te voren aangegeven dat een persoon glutenvrij moet eten, wat bij het inchecken totaal geen probleem was, maar tot nu toe nog geen glutenvrije opties gekregen. Personeel is niet echt vriendelijk en verstrekt helaas ook geen enkele medewerking. Jammer voor ons maar het blijft volgens de manager bij elke ochtend hetzelfde ontbijt, wat wij als meer dan gastonvriendelijk ervaren. Enige optie volgens de medewerkers van het hotel is hier in de buurt bij een ander restaurant op onze eigen kosten te gaan ontbijten en dat ondanks dat wij in dit hotel voor ontbijt hebben betaald. Strand Orient Beach ligt al dagen vol met sargassumwier, wat helaas niet wordt opgeruimd en je kan hierdoor niet de zee in. Al met al is dit hotel geen aanrader voor een verblijf en zeker niet voor een langere periode.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans cette maison d’hôtes pleine de charme ;l’accueil d’Aurelie et Eric au top ,la vue époustouflante, le jardin extraordinaire… tout est beau et bien entretenu ;On vous conseille aussi la table d’hôtes : vous nous avez régalé que ce soit pour le petit déjeuner ou le dîner …Notre seul regret :y être restés juste 2 nuits !! Non franchement allez y sans hésitation pour une belle découverte du sud ! Nous en tout cas on espère y revenir un jour Anne Nicolas Mathilde et Pierre Louis

Originaires de l'île , nous avons pu découvrir ce beau quartier des hauts de st joseph . Belle villa avec dépendances nichée dans un bel écrin de verdure. Aucun vis à vis, que des champs jusqu'à l'océan. Un lieu merveilleux, une vue magnifique, des chambres confortables et très agréables. Des prestations au top, piscine à débordement, jacuzzi..terrasse bois et son guétali... Accueil sympa qui met de suite à l'aise. Nous recommandons également la table d'hôtes. C'était sympa de diner avec Aurélie et Eric, trois autres couples et pouvoir échanger sur l'histoire de l'île et de ses sites touristiques à découvrir. Très bon rapport qualité prix. Une adresse incontournable au sud ! Bravo

Une maison d’exception au cachet magnifique entretenue avec amour par Aurélie et Éric Outre la qualité de l’hébergement et la qualité exceptionnelle de leur cuisine, ce sont des hôtes très attentionnés. Ils sont de très bon conseil pour la découverte du territoire du Sud .

Merveilleux endroit, hôtes au petit soin avec nous, piscine pour se rafraîchir après une journée sous la chaleur… et le petit plus le repas pris en compagnie d’Aurélie et Eric… une pure découverte des produits de la Réunion!! Et une vue à couper le souffle !! Bref a recommander sans problème !! Merci et à bientôt
