Hôtel Koh-I Nor by les Etincelles

A good friendly ski in ski out hotel at the top of the Val Thorens. The slope to ski in is quite steep and it is not fit for beginner. The staff are friendly in general, particularly the ski room staff, James, Nathan, Laurenne who are so helpful to prepare all ski on way to facilitate us. There are three very good restaurants, one is Michelin star, one is an Alpine specialist. The room is decent and beautifully decorated. The breakfast is also good, with buffet, ordered eggs and coffee, and never missed. Pity that the swimming pool water is so cold and it is not for relaxation. No shampoo or bath gel is a drawback. The shuttle service is very good and the drivers are so helpful and friendly. We have dined out in other places at evening and they can accurately send us and pick us up. Of course, you need to wait a few minutes for the car to come from hotel to pick you up after the dinner.

Thanks for all of your help when my boyfriend broke his arm snowboarding! Lovely comfy apartment, great balcony views. Nice bar/balcony. Apartment could use an extra toilet!

This hotel is amazing the facilities are 10/10 location and proximity to the slopes was perfect. Great restaurant options. Ski shop and ski room very well run. James at the ski shop made our experience memorable, everything was sorted everyday great advice and super friendly and welcoming. One of the main reasons why we would come back! Thanks James!

Stayed in the residence from 25th Jan- 01 Feb. Can’t complain about anything to do with the accommodation, was clean modern and comfortable. Shuttle bus service is great and never had to wait long wherever in the resort. Ski in ski out of the ski shop linked to the hotel was brilliant! Very enjoyable week in Val T

Second visit here after a great visit last year in February. Love the location and the hotel is amazing . All the staff are lovely , great to see the team in the ski hire shop/boot room from last year. Special thanks to James , Nathan, Lauren who always make sure our equipment is looked after and give great advice . Reception staff all are very lovley. Josh, and Georgia from the restaurant. Thanks to All nice guys that shuttle us backwards from the centre. The nice lady that looked after our room too . All the bar staff ...our interaction with everyone was amazing and we will return next year for 2 weeks .

The hotel offers beautiful views of the resort, friendly staff with good spa facilities. The customer service experience from the ski shop, in particular James was exceptional! James had our skies ready outside every morning, remembered our room numbers and the guests that were in our group. Always exceptionally helpful and courteous during every encounter. The ski in/out isn't suitable for beginners, due to the steep blue run that you have to access to return to the hotel. If you cannot ski in, then you can book a free shuttle bus or take a 15-20 minute uphill walk from the slopes to the hotel . We found the restaurants very disappointing, only two were available for half board guests and both were a la carte. The selection of choice was very limited with either a 4 course meal or two course being served. During our meals, the waiters started clearing the plates before everyone had finished, making us feel rushed. You have to book your dinner reservation days in advance and we found it difficult to book an early sitting for 7pm, mainly 8.30pm were being offered. Consequently, we decided to eat out on three occasions because of the restrictive menu, despite having paid to eat at the hotel. There was no evening entertainment during our stay. On several occasions the housekeeping staff didn't provide enough towels for each guest and we ran out of toilet paper! Not the level of service expected from a 5 star hotel! Although the hotel, spa and scenery was very pleasant, I don't believe it represented value for money. Having read the reviews from other guests who stayed here during December, many were saying the same as we experienced, which is disappointing that the hotel hasn't taken on board any of the feedback from guests.
