Best Western Hotel de Havelet

A most welcoming hotel run expertly by Italian hosts. The rooms are very clean with some more accessible than others. Best to give them a ring to find out. The spa area with a big indoor pool and good sauna (though a little small) are very clean and the gardens are beautiful with plenty of sun loungers. Take afternoon tea in the garden or on the large terrace. The adjacent restaurant, Wellington, is separate to the hotel, though again most of the Italian staff have worked there for many years. The food is superb. The breakfast of the hotel is taken upstairs in the Wellington Restaurant. You have to climb some very steep and winding stairs which cannot be done by people with any disabilities. Though if you ask the head waiter he may allow you to take breakfast in the downstairs restaurant. Breakfasts are stupendous. The hotel is on a steep hill which makes going into St Peter Port easy, but by gosh, climbing up back to the hotel can be a challenge. Ask the hotel, they may run a shuttle bus a couple of times a day.

my partner and I spent a four-day break at Hotel de Havelet last week. The room what light, spacious and ideal for a quiet break. Delightful and dedicated staff who all gave their smiling best to their customers. The Restaurant is superb and we cannot fault any aspect of our visit. We will return! Accommodation was excellent. We were upgraded as the main building was being refurbished so we did not see the standard rooms. Our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and exceptionally clean - full marks to the Housekeeping Team. Plenty of choice for breakfast in the beautiful upstairs function room - The Wellington Boot with a lovely view. Restaurant meals in the Copenhagen Bar & Grill were good however both food and especially the wine were somewhat expensive. Plenty of parking onsite. The Hotel is a little too far out of town for one to walk there and back easily. We went out of season so felt the need for a car. Special mention to the pleasant smiling and helpful staff being Joana, Atilla, Pitche, and Jobayer. Thank you for a lovely stay in Guernsey. Will recommend the Havelet.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at this wonderful hotel. Although there are some negative points, we would return in a heartbeat, as we had such an amazing time. The beautiful old house itself is really unique, still with some original features, and the courtyard at the front of the hotel is lovely, a really nice place to sit in the afternoon sun. There is also a lovely big walled garden at the front of the pool area, with seating & sunbeds. Our Superior King Size room was on the ground floor, in an annexe at the back of the hotel It was a really modern room, with everything we required, & an amazing ultra modern bathroom. We were provided with fresh fruit, a selection of tea & coffee, biscuits, chocolates & soft drinks every day. We enjoyed freshly cooked breakfasts with a wide varied selection, & also a small buffet. Service was excellent, every member of staff really friendly yet professional. Meals in the Copenhagen Restaurant or Wellington bar were beautiful, & we were spoilt for choice with the large menu. They were always cooked to perfection, & so delicious. Desserts to die for, too!! The main reason for the hotel being excellent was the wonderful staff. Every single one of them were amazing! By the end of our holiday, they were like family to us! Our only negative point about the hotel was the noise from adjoining rooms. The walls were so thin that we could hear conversations next door, TV noise, shower & toilet flushing, & even snoring! We also struggled a bit with the very steep hill to the hotel. The free shuttle bus was a godsend though, & we used it almost every day. We were sad to leave this wonderful hotel, & will return again very soon!! The management should be proud of their fantastic staff. Thank you for making our holiday special, BW de Havelet!!!

The best reason to go to the BW Hotel de Havelet in Guernsey is the staff. They were super friendly, extremely helpful, and they worked to make our stay wonderful. The hotel's driver heard that I was looking for an empty Guernsey milk carton (with data on the side of it) to take home to an interested friend in the US. The next day one appeared at the front desk for me. Whenever we had a question, they immediately offered assistance and they would also ask other members of the staff for additional information. Each staff members seemed to know our names and warmly greeted us every time we saw them. We mentioned that the room felt a bit warm while we passed the front desk and went to breakfast. Things were taken care of by the time we finished our meal. The room we had for a few nights on the first level did not have a view, but it had a luxurious bathroom. Later, we moved to a room two levels up and it had a nice view. We recommend a room with a view. Without us even having to ask, they moved everything we had from the first room to the second. In addition, select the B&B option and have a wonderful breakfast in their restaurant. They also have delicious dinners.

My Husband and I spent four nights (17th/21st October) at this delightful, well run and immaculately clean hotel that has some amazing views of St Peter Port and the harbour. From the moment we arrived until we said our final farewell, the staff were always helpful, caring, friendly and professional and worked tirelessly to do their very best for the guests. We stayed on a Bed & Breakfast basis and were overwhelmed by the excellent quality of the food that was served and the amazing choice of culinary delights that were on the menu each morning. We also enjoyed two evening meals in the Copenhagen Restaurant and both meals exceeded our expectations. I was particularly pleased when the Receptionist mentioned the hotel served a roast dinner on a Sunday evening from 5.30pm to 9.30pm as well as at lunchtime. I enjoyed some delicious well cooked roast beef and yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes and a vegetable medley and my Husband was delighted with the chicken in crab and lobster sauce that he chose from the menu. Both meals were reasonably priced and the quality of the food both at breakfast and dinner was of a very high standard. Our room was kept spotlessly clean and the refreshments restocked every day. The beds were very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was exceptional. Overall we had a very enjoyable time at the Hotel de Havelet and hope very much to return again in the future. I have no hesitation in awarding this hotel 5 Stars. Highly recommended.
