We stayed at MGL in August 2020 & 2022, and enjoyed 'roughing it' in one of the retro campers, and walking the property - which has great mountain views and sweet goats. This year we decided to 'upgrade' to the slightly larger Bunkhouse camper which affords more space, but is still rather 'cozy.' Our experience this time around was a bit disappointing. We arrived in the pouring rain, and were surprised to see the awning which protects the outdoor table and chairs was not in place, so everything out there was soaked. We were not greeted, as in the past, with a lovely pot of petunias, and the area around the campers seemed a bit unkempt. Perhaps more attention is paid to the lodge and its guests? (We hear Gina's breakfasts are fantastic, but camper folk need to pay $25 pp for that option.) Inside, the camper was clean, and bare bones. There were some dishes, pots & pans, silverware, plastic glasses, mugs, a small coffee maker, microwave, stovetop & oven, but don't expect to cook a full meal here...and bring your own wine glasses! The bed was made up with very dark-colored, polyester microfiber sheets, which are not at all breathable. Give me good old cotton any day! The comforter on the bed looked worn, and the extra comforter in the closet was stained. We had to call our hosts four times to find out how to work things in the camper (stove, oven, hot water, lights). Granted, we are not 'camper people,' so others more savvy might have been able to figure things out on their own. Darcy was wonderful, always there in a flash to give us instructions how to work things. Even he exclaimed, "It might me good for us to have an information sheet in here." Yes! As others note, this place is right alongside Hwy 285, so there is traffic noise. That really didn't bother us, but if you want peace and quiet, you might want to seek it elsewhere. This is a unique, beautiful property. I'm sure Gina and Darcy are working tirelessly to maintain it, but a bit more attention to detail would be welcome, at least with respect to the campers.
