H10 Mediterranean Village

This was our 4th visit to H10 mediterranean Village 2 adults and 2 children (13yrs,11yrs) its our favourite family hotel, and even with the power outage will still had a great time. The lady who checked us in was very helpful and told us about somethings that have changed since our last visit. It was great to see Sebastian from the bar again he always comes to say hello to our family every return visit, all the staff are friendly and work very hard especially the lady cooking at the snack bar she never stops, the food is lovely and the hotel general manager (I think she is?) every year we've watched her walk around making sure everything is shipshape even helping out herself. Our welcome gift was lovely we enjoyed the cava on our last night while watching the San Juan fireworks, pool towels were a real bonus. Now while the power outage was a bit of a nuisance, we had to throw away food from our fridge, shower in the dark and my husband cut his head on a wall light while heading downstairs, we still managed to have a morning around the pool we just bought drinks from the shop next door, a day with no device's did us good. It was my daughters 11th birthday that day and we had planned on going into salou that night due to the power outage we just stayed in cap salou and celebrated in salou the following day so she had 2 birthdays, i do think a note through every door explaining what was happening would have been nice as everyone was getting different explanations. Entertainment - it may not be everyone's cup of tea but each night was different there was something for everyone and i noticed the week we left the Entertainment was changing. Animation team these guys work hard and try their best to get everyone to involved. While we we're there the lifeguard around the relax pool removed towels from sunbeds which caused a little conflict the family we're at the snack bar and when they returned another family were on the sunbeds they were using once they realised the lifeguard had removed the towels they weren't happy as they said they we're only away to eat lunch and the other family who had no idea the beds we're occupied then had to move, there was a bit shouting and the lifeguard explained you can't reserve sunbeds, i think if he left a note first before removing towels this situation might not have been as bad. We always managed to get sunbeds down the relax pool or splash park on a morning and if it was busy we gave others sunbeds that our children we're using as they spent more time in the pool. We never tried the pirate ship area as this was always busy. The splash pool could benefit from having a drinks station i know there's a camper van in there but looks like it only gets used high season, even just having a vending machine in there. Apartment rooms were clean and had everything we needed for our stay, we we're in room 379B this yr the only issue we had was the wasps from the tower outside the supermarket every night our balcony was covered

Absolutely amazing holiday. The hotel was clean, the staff was very helpful, and the food was delicious. Everyone around us make us feel welcomed and special. We will definitely come back.

Recently home from a one week stay. Apart from our first night where we arrived to a power cut with no electricity including no aircon in rooms we had a nice stay. We have stayed in H10 before (down the road in Cambrils) and although this hotel was lovely it wasn’t quite up to the same standard as our previous experience. Overall the hotel is clean, the main lobby is modern, the night entertainment was great and the food is delicious. The rooms could definitely do with an update but they’re fine to stay in. We found the beds very comfortable with plenty of nice pillows. Our little one seemed to sleep well in the travel cot too. You are provided with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and some mini toiletries too along with soaps for our little boy. The balcony was huge, only thing was was the sliding door to go onto the balcony did not have a handle on the outside so it was very difficult to open and close and a bit of a worry not being able to open it easily when you’re out on the balcony! The floor was filthy on arrival and our feet were black after just a short while. The cleaners quickly attended to this when we informed reception the next day however throughout our stay the floor was never cleaned very well, otherwise the cleaners did a great job every day. We stayed half board (they don’t do all inclusive so can’t swap evening meal to lunchtime which we normally do when going half board). The food was lovely and a good variety each night. Breakfast was often the same foods. The kids meals were limited but this might have been because our little boy is dairy free. They were great with allergens and the chef would come and find you and walk you around all the dishes to let you know what you could and couldn’t have depending on your allergy. Both chefs we met were lovely. Plenty of choice when it came to evening meals for my partner and I. The pools themselves were very clean however around the sunbeds not so much with dirt and twigs/leaves covering the floor. I didn’t see this area be cleaned very often during the day. However there were plenty of sunbeds available if you got down at around 10am or 3pm. Hard to find one between these times. Lifeguards do enjoy blowing their whistle all the time and telling people off. Evening entertainment was great and our little one loved having a dance on the night. Drinks were relatively cheap too. There is a laundrette, supermarket, pizza restaurant/takeaway and shop at the hotel although the shop at the sun club hotel just up the road is better we found. Could’ve had more entertainment during the day for 1-2 year olds as was a bit boring for my son. Also isn’t a great deal to do in the area but salou is only a short bus ride away (get the bus card from bus plana opposite the hotel!). Highly recommend the 7 Mares restaurant in Cambrils and also the Cap Salou Restaurant. The aquarium isn’t worth doing in Barcelona but definitely worth doing a day trip to Barcelona itself, the area by the aquariu

Location - Cap Salou lovely quiet area with few coves for swimming, nearby Salou, Portaventura with good public transport available right outside the hotel. Rooms - shabby and in need of a decor update. rooms and balcony are a good size and kitchenette is adequate although a small freezer section in the fridge would be a welcome addition. The beds are the most uncomfortable beds we've ever slept on. On arrival our bathroom floor was dirty (requested it be mopped and it was done promptly). Room cleaning staff did a good job thereafter, but were unfriendly bordering on rude, and seemed under pressure. Facilities - 3 pools, we preferred the pirate ship pool with slides etc. The lifeguards while vigilant were over the top blowing the whistle at the smallest little thing. No balls or floaties allowed in any of the pools and there was a shortage of beds in the shade which could easily be sorted by making additional umbrellas available. Also due to the lack of shade people often put their towels on beds under unbrellas and left them there all day without ever using the beds, we observed this many days and management seemed not to be monitoring the situation. Hotel - on check in we were informed of €20 per day parking fee having been told twice over the phone (once when booking and a second time when confirming) that parking was free at the hotel. The public relations manager insisted that we hadn't been told that (not a great start). Then a few days later there was a power outage from 1am to 8pm, which they insisted was outside of their control, although the hotel next door and other businesses nearby had power. We spent the day away from the hotel as it was unpleasant without air con and pools in working order, and very disorganised. Another day we got stuck in one of the lifts for 10+ minutes, this happened to many guests during our stay. We informed reception as we felt it was a problem which hadn't been fixed, however we received no explanation, apology or compensation for the power outage or getting stuck in the lift with 3 small scared children. Entertainment was nightly but not great and very loud. The food at the hotel was very good, the buffet menu varied nightly and was plentiful with lots of options for children and adults and friendly staff, the only drawback was a €2 charge for a bottle of water at dinner, surely you could offer a bottle per table free. The Italian restaurant next to the supermarket was fantastic also and we had lunch there many times. Overall a nice hotel in need of some room decor updates, great pools if the life guards could relax a little, fantastic food options and ok value for money. I'd suggest they could take a leaf out of Zafiro hotel chains book, who in our experience for a similar cost offer a better product - nicer rooms, friendly staff, fabulous interactive kids entertainment, and great nightly entertainment programme with equally good food.

There is an electricity outage in the H10 Mediterranean Village Cap de Salou since 2.40am today Tuesday 17th June......partial working but all rooms have no fridge/sockets working/air conditioning/hot water etc.. very frustrating especially for families with young children....requiring a fridge to keep milk cold etc. ....no Goodwill Gestures by local management.... disappointed by their apparent lack of a propr Business Continuity Plan.

Just back from a 10 day family holiday. This was the 3rd time we visited and we are planning next year again. We stay in the 2 bed apartment. Very spacious. They are a bit dated , and could do with new shower doors etc as the floor was soaked constantly. Such a waste of towels having to mop the floor up. We did half board and always a good variety of food. Drinks not included except at breakfast. Hotel is located approx 10 mins away from main Salou in a taxi but there are buses right outside the hotel also. Reception Staff are so friendly. The only thing that's really annoying and why they haven't figured it out yet, I don't know, is that they have no concierge so when we wanted to book a taxi, or top up our H10 bracelets, or ask simple questions, we queued about 20 mins while others were checking in. They should have someone separate to do small, quick things like this. Entertainment staff did try their best but they are in need of some proper training. They weren't great for communication. Their English was poor. Night time Entertainment was okay. Tribute acts on and a show one night. The H10 app is great to find out about things. Still look forward to visiting again next year.
