Jungle Inn Bukit Lawang

We were here for a Coffee, after we were told by locals that the coffee was great. And that’s definitely true. Great ice coffee and fruit juices. Friendly staff at a great location. We were very fortunate to see an Orangutang with her baby moving through the jungle along the river. Even a Java Hawk Eagle circled around above the trees for a while. Thank you so much Blade for a terrific service.

It’s very hard to put into words our experience at the Jungle Inn because it was absolutely brilliant. Our family cannot speak highly enough of the hotel, the people, the experience. It is something we will talk about for many years. Not many people travel to Bukit Lawang with 2 small kids and a baby but we did. The staff took complete care of us. They looked after our every need. And did so with a smile. The hotel was exceptionally clean. And the food and drinks were also out of this world. The chef welcomed us into the kitchen and gave our kids a cooking class in Indonesian food. We did a one day jungle trek with 2 guides from the hotel who were excellent in English, friendly, fun and informative. They made it a great experience for all of us. The day we left we had to leave early at 6.30 in the morning. All the staff were there to help with the bags, give us breakfast to take away and drive us on scooters to the bus station. And as always, smiling and happy. Their smiles were infectious. Me and my family only smiled the whole time we were there. We cannot recommend the Jungle Inn enough. Hopefully when our small kids grow up, they will also return there.

Recently stayed here to see the Orangutans in Sumatra and just really loved this location. My number one reason for the review is the insanely exceptional service and communication of the staff at this hotel. They were so responsive in planning our trip up to staying up late and arranging our transportation very late into the night due to flight delays. I reduced the star only because the room really could use some love. Pros- -Extremely friendly and communicative staff. Really outstanding. -location is fantastic and in the very cute town on the river across from a waterfall. -food at restaurant was great. Cons -lights and electricity in this town go off very regularly impacting the AC and lights. -bathrooms are ummmm little rough to say. Hot water did not work night we arrived and water was frigid but they fixed it immediately. Water trickles out of the spouts. -AC stopped working when the electricity charge for the town is too high. It was very warm that day and had trouble sleeping. -pillows have a sweat smell and bc you’re in the tropics it makes sense but probably need to be replaced. Again most of this we expected based on the location but overall really loved our experience here and the staff! Really such a cool experience.
