Corallium Beach by Lopesan Hotels - Adults Only

The location of this hotel couldn’t be better. It has direct access to a beautiful, clean & sandy beach & to a level promenade which takes you right to Maspomas. The hotel is spotlessly clean & the rooms are well equipped & comfortable. The balcony was small but we spent most of our time around the pool area. The pools are both lovely & there are 3 natural looking jacuzzis. Loads of sunbeds & parasols & some pool activities. It’s adult only, which was what we wanted, although I have to say that we quite missed the sound of children! The food is buffet style for the 3 main meals & everything was fresh & tasty. If you’re on all inclusive, you can eat in the al a carte restaurant once every 5 days. We didn’t try it as the menu wasn’t to my husband’s taste. The Jet2 rep doesn’t attend every day but is usually available every morning at the neighbouring hotel. There is live entertainment every night & we especially enjoyed a singer & guitarist called Katrina - she was truly amazing & her choice of songs was very much to our taste! There was also an excellent saxophonist on our last night. The only disappointment was the Flamenco show, which turned up very late & was not to my taste although my husband enjoyed it! Flights & transfers by Jet2 were seamless as always, which adds to us booking them over & over again. Really excellent value for money!

First the pros - The hotel is in a good location right on the beach. There are loungers where you can swim in the sea, but these are not part of the hotel, so will cost you 9 Euros for 2 people. The pool area is clean and there are plenty of loungers, though the pools are not heated, so you won’t see many people swimming. There are some seats at the front of the hotel overlooking the beach with a nice view. The fact it is adults only is great. The breakfast buffet is average. The fruit selection is good at the start of the day but towards 10am there isn’t much left, only tinned fruit. We didn’t have any other meals at the hotel, but there are lots of places nearby you can eat, Italian, Thai etc Now the cons - if you book a double standard view, be warned your room will be above a supermarket, in a separate building, away from the main hotel. The balcony overlooks the main road into town and a smaller road, which means the room is very noisy at all times of day. There are frequent buses, trucks and you can hear loud music and talking from the bars nearby. At no point did we sit out on our balcony or spend much time in the room as it wasn’t relaxing. When we said we didn’t like the room, manager Francisco did not care. No “sorry to hear that”, he just said, bluntly, “this is the room you booked”. Fair enough, I said, are there any other rooms available? He then spent 5 minutes tapping away on his computer, completely ignoring me, then said “yes, but you have to pay 55 Euros extra (11 per night)” to upgrade. I asked him where this room was, if it was a better view. He said “second floor, over there” while vaguely waving toward the main hotel. We decided against this as we were already on the second floor and some of the rooms in the actual hotel overlook a side road and the hotel car park. As someone who works in customer service, I can safely say, Francisco should NOT be working in this job - he has no people skills and cannot even smile from my experience. Onto the next issue we had - the room was very far to walk from the main hotel. As you will see in my photos, there was an exit opposite our room, which you can leave by, directly down to the supermarket entrance, but you cannot enter this way. This could be very easily remedied by putting a key card at the top of the stairs for the “budget” guests away from the main hotel. There is a massage spa, “Sbanga Spa” as part of the hotel, so we booked a couples massage for our last day for 4pm, but when we arrived, the woman working there said there had been a mix up, and it wasn’t possible. She was, however, very apologetic. I would recommend the nearby “Daysen massage” company which is a short walk away from the hotel. Lopesan’s marketing makes them out as a high end chain, but all you get are the basics, there are charges for any extras you want, such as a clean beach towel. The hotel will not provide you with an iron. There is a “48 hour” laundry service which you have to pay for. Fine, we

A busy hotel on the beach in a quiet area. Hard beds lumpy pillows and air conditioning. Good breakfast will lots of choice but good restaurants locally for evening meals .tv has only one uk channel rest Spanish and German. On site Thai massage is a must as really excellent value for such skill.

Was originally going to be bed and breakfast but upgraded to half board because it seemed so reasonably priced, wasn't disappointed. Good selection and not too salty, which I've found with dinner buffet services in other establishments. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool for our return mid to late afternoon, no need to reserve but it was early December so not peak season. Staff very helpful and attentive. The only 'negative' is one of the lifts was out of order for our 10 day stay. I thought it might have been an energy saving measure. Not bothered if it was, it just seems a lift out of order for 10 days feels like a long time. On a number of occasions we climbed the stairs to the 4th floor, probably better for our cardio health, so for us not a problem. I checked before I came this was a smoking hotel but found after arrival you can't smoke on your balcony. That was disappointing, I fully understand why, and that we occasional smokers are social pirahas but it should be made clearer in the information. A fantastic stay, thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a lovely holiday break here. The staff were welcoming and always greeted you with a smile. The facilities were clean and cleaned daily. It was exactly the chilled sunny break we needed. The food was great and the restaurant stayed open for a good amount of time. Allowing us to be flexible with when we ate.

We stayed here for a week. The hotel is a mix of good and bad hence the rating of 3. Firstly the good bits. The hotel is exceptionally clean and we couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the room, food areas and pool area. The staff are on the whole hard working and very pleasant. The room was good with everything you’d expect for a 3* hotel. The bed was a big but a bit firm. We found the food on the whole ok for a week but would have got boring if staying for longer. It was rarely hot though and some items, particularly the fish were overcooked and dry. We tried the a la carte one night which was nice but beware AI guests only get choice of a few things on the menu and one of these wasn’t available! Drinks on AI were limited but the beer, sangria and Gordon’s Gin were included which suited us. Cocktails were not good however, pre mixed and weak. There were plenty of beds at the pool, never an issue getting them. The location was good for us with the beach and promenade just outside for walks. Beach beds etc not included however and are charged. Evening entertainment was mixed, some good ( rock band) some only ok. However there were some bits that were not good. There was a charge of 1euro per towel to change them even though it said free pool towels on the holiday info. The biggest issue for us however was on the last day. Our pick up was not until 7.40pm so as check out was 12pm we asked about a shower room. To our surprise we were told there wasn’t any. Never had this before on any other AI holiday we’ve been on. When we asked how therefore we going to get washed and changed we were given the option of a disabled toilet off the foyer with a sink or to buy a late check up at 10 euros per hour. In the we paid for an extra 5 hours which we were not happy about. Needless to say we will not be returning to this hotel.
