The Lodge at The Presidio

The Lodge at the Presidio is a hidden gem in San Francisco. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained, offering a cozy yet modern feel. One of the highlights is the stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge—especially at sunrise or sunset. The included breakfast is fresh and satisfying, with a nice variety of options. In the evening, the complimentary wine and cheese hour is a lovely touch, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The location within the Presidio provides a peaceful, park-like setting while still being close to the city’s main attractions. Highly recommended!

The quiet atmosphere was so enjoyable and the hotel is beautifully cared for. The staff is impeccable. Beds are comfy and cozy and the ammenities are endless in the rooms. Filtered water in glass bottles are a big plus. Views of San Franciso and the Golden Gate Bridge are amazing!

While we love the Presidio and had high hopes for our stay, the Lodge at the Presidio did not meet expectations—especially at a total of $1,300 for two nights. Unfortunately, our room was directly adjacent to the freeway and had two broken windows, which resulted in excessive noise and very poor sleep. We inquired about switching rooms but were only offered a much smaller room at the top of the stairs, which wasn’t a viable alternative. When you're on vacation, sleep quality is essential, and it's one of the main reasons guests are willing to pay a premium. The property itself appears to be in need of maintenance. Perhaps staffing shortages or a lack of a dedicated facilities manager are to blame. The daily breakfast buffet was particularly underwhelming: tables were often dirty, food was not refreshed, and no staff were present to assist or check in. It was a challenge just to find a clean place to sit. All in all, I cannot recommend staying at the Lodge unless improvements are made or prices are significantly reduced. If staying in the Presidio is important to you, consider accommodations at the Inn. You may lose the views, but at least you’ll gain a quieter, more restful experience, in hopes. That said, that property may be maintained in the same banner as the Lodge.

A beautiful lodge and area with lots of history and amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge and SF Bay. The lodge was easy to get to, check in was a breeze, and convenient parking across the lawn area. The lodge itself seems like a throwback to an era of luxury travel with cozy sitting areas, fireplaces, and friendly staff. The rooms were lovely and the beds were so, so comfortable. Showers were especially nice and appreciated after 4 days of backpacking in Yosemite. If not for the pull of San Francisco attractions, we would have been very content staying in the lodge all day. The included breakfast buffet was one of the most tasty hotel buffets ever and there was always a table with hot coffee and tea selections - a real treat on cool days and nights in May.

The Lodge at the Presidio is truly a remarkable place to stay in SF. The setting is incredibly beautiful, nature abounds and the hotel is very comfortable and so pleasant to stay. The location on the Parade Grounds is perfect and Sundays are special with food trucks and families. Views are unbelievable and a stay there is truly magical. 10 out of 10

Many years back we stayed at the Presidio Inn (before the Lodge was finished), this time we decided to try the Lodge. We think the Lodge has a better location being that it is very close to the Visitor Center, the Tunnel Top, the Main Greens area with Food Trucks, the Walt Disney Museum, and much more. The breakfast (baked goods, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, oatmeal, fruit) is superb, the wine and cheese snack from 5-7 pm has an assortment of cheeses, cold cuts, fruit, bread and crackers, cookies, and wine. These two offerings make the high cost of the room more reasonable. The location is absolutely fantastic and we were lucky to be there on a clear day. We really enjoyed visiting the very large Visitor Center (there are five short documentaries that are a MUST watch) and the staff is very knowledgeable—plan on spending an hour there. Make sure to take the time to explore the Tunnel Top. If this is your first visit, two days is a minimum stay. The Presidio is truly a GEM. (To avoid the traffic noise, we opted for a room NOT facing the Golden Gate Bridge, Parking is an additional $13)
