Mariposa Jungle Lodge

The Mariposa Jungle Lodge is truly a hidden gem! My family of five (including three adult children) spent a few wonderful nights here, and we were thoroughly impressed. We stayed in a cozy family suite—while it was a bit snug, it added to the charm of the experience. The serene jungle setting was incredibly peaceful and relaxing, offering a perfect escape from the bustle of daily life. The lodge offers a variety of thoughtful amenities, such as bird-watching platforms, binoculars, and hiking and birding books for guests to use. There’s even a community TV room stocked with videos, which was a nice touch. Although the pool was a lovely spot to relax and read, it wasn’t heated and was a bit too chilly for us to swim. We opted for the meal plan, which I highly recommend since there aren’t nearby dining options. The freshly prepared breakfasts and dinners were absolutely excellent, showcasing the lodge’s commitment to quality. The on-site bar serves a good selection of beer, wine, and mixed cocktails, perfect for unwinding in the evening. A special shoutout goes to the wait staff, Leonel and Robbie, who were exceptionally attentive and ensured we felt well taken care of throughout our stay. Their warm and friendly service truly stood out. Overall, I would highly recommend the Mariposa Jungle Lodge as an ideal mainland retreat. It’s a unique, tranquil destination that combines natural beauty with excellent service and amenities.

What an amazing experience in the rain forest. We could not have been more pleased with our opportunity to spend 5 nights in the Puma cabana. This worked well for our family of 4 with a queen bed and a king bed. Private, quite, lovely grounds. Amazingly friendly, helpful, generous and caring staff. We did a meal plan and all the food we have was amazing, you could taste the love Norma and her staff but into every thoughtfully made meal. We arranged all of our excursions thru the Mariposa as well. From airport transfer to the Belize Zoo, Caracol, ATM, cave tubing and an ATV tour. All our drivers and guides were super knowledgeable. If you are looking for a memorable experience in nature - start here. Leo, Robbie, Gladimer, will do everything they can to make sure you have an exceptional experience.

Great family-friendly resort! I stayed with my 5 adult family members and we had a lovely experience. The chef prepared a variety of different filling and tasty meals, as well as packed lunches for excursions. Leo made great drinks and gave us a Belizean history lesson answering all of our questions, we were able to relax on site listening and watching monkeys and birds. The excursions were great, included all transport, we enjoyed the Pontoon full day tour (semi-private) with many waterfalls, Barton Cave half day tour (private tour) and especially would recommend the Caracol Mayan Tour with Philip (private tour). Some of us also enjoyed massages. If you are looking for busy days and quiet nights, especially with children, Mariposa resort is for you!

Beautiful property. Well maintained grounds and hiking trails. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice. The resort has very few rooms which almost makes it feel as if you have the place to yourself. Staff were very accommodating and provided great service! We only wish the menu had a few more options.

This small boutique lodge is delightful. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The cabins are quite nice and well equipped. The excursions you can book thru their Mariposa Tours Ltd on-site rep are excellent! The food here is delicious. The "full bar" has excellent cocktails, and they even deliver to the pool. Our only complaints were there were no animals and no birds, and the one and only "trail" was a muddy trek with nothing of interest. But as a "home base" to do excursions to Caracol, Rio on Pools, Barton Creek Cave, etc, this was excellent and we are glad we stayed here.

We love staying at places that are off the beaten path and Mariposa Jungle Lodge fit the bill perfectly for our family of 5! In fact, for our stay we ended up being the only guests here and it was like having our own private resort! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and went above & beyond to make our stay perfect! I loved that we could book all our tours (ATM Cave, Tikal and San Ignacio Day Trip with Ziplining--highly recommend these) and airport/water taxi transfers through the resort and we didn't have to worry about anything once we got there! The kids loved spending the evenings in the pool & playing ping pong. And having the meal plan was great as they catered to our food preferences, especially nice with picky kids! 100% recommend staying here, truly a hidden gem!
