This hotel was very stylish very comfortable, we really loved it. Great atmosphere, beautiful decorations, comfortable bed comfortable pillows room was beautiful. The concierge at this hotel was very friendly, and it was clear that he cared about the comfort of our stay

When I read these reviews after saying here, I wonder why certain people travel outside of their own countries. This hotel was FANTASTIC! It has such an old school PR charm, and the room we booked (king bed)- was incredibly romantic. High ceilings, super comfy bed, cool bathroom with a double shower… It was truly everything. On the roof were claw foot bathtubs (that’s right)- and we sat in them each night, going from our personal hot tub to personal cool pool. It was beautiful with a bottle of wine and looking at the stars. If you want to feel like you’re really experiencing San Juan, stay here. If you want to feel like you’re still in America, stay at the Marriot.

I would not recommend staying here unless you want cool pictures of the interior and not much else... I will start with the redeeming factors: The front desk staff (only on location til 5pm) and cleaning staff were lovely and incredibly accommodating. The rooftop area and hot tub were a fun lounge location. Our room had great air-conditioning and the wifi always worked. The location is outstanding, but there are many other hotels in the same area. The cons: (1) Our bed and pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable, which I have read other reviewers mention. When I first read those reviews, I thought those people must be exaggerating, but they were not. (2) Our key card did not work TWICE after hours, and we had to call an emergency line and get assistance. On the second time, no one answered for awhile, and we had to BREAK IN to our own room. We did not break anything to do this, and it was entirely too simple to do. We still felt safe, though, since the main entrance was locked and code protected and our room had a bolt and safety lock. (3) The bathroom was extremely small and the water pressure was not good. (4) Our sink leaked constantly. (5) Our TV did not work. (6) Our safe did not work. (7) The floors were dirty. After meeting other travelers around San Juan, we realized we over paid (by a lot) for what we got. I would not stay here again unless it was at a big discount.

Do not book. Total fraud. I had the worst experience. My family and I booked a room a month in advance and got confirmation. They immediately charged my credit card and we paid in full. They tell you you will find your keys in drawer and give you phone number to call if you need help. We arrived right on time for checkin only to find no keys and no one to help. We were in the middle of Old San Juan with heavy suitcase under the oppressive heat and no one picked up the phone. Two hours later they informed us they canceled our reservation. Do not risk. I filed for fraud and my bank fortunately helped. We had to get a car and look for a airbnb in the middle of the night.

This little hotel is such a GEM, located in a little side street in the middle of Old San Juan. The hotel has a beautiful Spanish Hacienda Style throughout the rooms and common areas. Our room (ground floor - H7) was spacious, stunningly detailed decorated, high ceiling, the King size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a big shower with two shower heads. Morning coffee is served every day and an ice machine is available since the room has no fridge. The villa grounds have a little rooftop to use as well to enjoy a morning coffee. The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and truly helpful. The location is in walking distance to the ports, restaurant, shopping and nightlife. We highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay there again when we return to San Juan.

Giving them 2 star because the shower was really terrible. Didn’t expect this from a $300/night place. Water flow was weak and it was not hot at all. We were super tired from our adventures and this was really frustrating. There was no one there to help us with the issue either. Otherwise, it’s a real lovely and beautiful place. The person at front desk was also super super friendly and nice. I would definitely give them 5 star if it wasn’t for the shower issue. Just leaving it here so others check with the hotel on the shower before checking in.

Villa Herencia is an extremely charming & quaint historic building in a great location in old San Juan, with easy access to the historic district. It felt extremely safe and we enjoyed our stay, although my wife was disappointed that they had cancelled breakfast in the elegant dining room. But coffee is provided. The downside for me was the lumpiest mattress I have ever slept on, which gave me a backache for two days after our visit. Rm. #5. Also the rooms are minuscule, and the wide angle photos on the website are deceiving in my opinion. Aside from the bed, it is a reasonable place to stay to enjoy magnificent Old San Juan.

We hadn't realized this was a true boutique hotel. Everything about it was just a delightful find. The rooms and building is quite old, but very well maintained. The bed was terrific: clean, and beautifully decorated. The bath had everything we needed for a modern experience, in a quaint setting. Coffee in the morning was a nicety, although I'd love it if they could actually offer breakfast in the beautiful dining room.
