La Bussola Hotel Calabria

The moment you walk into the reception area you have to check you are in the correct place… it’s a hidden gem the up to date decor and more importantly the friendly staff make you feel totally relaxed. The beaches are 2.5-3k’s away and Tropea is a quick 20 min drive down the road.. the staff are quick with smile and are always ready to have chat.. they are part of one big family which is refreshing. The only negative is that if you are trying to lose some kg’s then don’t come here as you can’t stop eating the food, it’s that good.

The vacation in La Bussola Hotel worths it on so many levels! First of all, it was our first trip to Italy, we had no experience and actually no idea what is the better option/region/place to stay. Everything we wanted a vacation near the sea, so a good beach was a priority, not far from some city, cleanliness and a good view. And fortunately we’ve chosen the La Bussola so got everything we wanted and even more. Before coming, we were worried that the hotel is not on beach and not in the center of Tropea , but it wasn’t a problem at all, as it is still close to the seaside and it takes just a few minutes to get there by car, or especially with the transfer provided by the hotel, it is very convenient and easy, the bus is modern and the driver is very nice! The room was clean (big appreciation to the ladies in charge of that, they were extremely nice and did everything just perfectly, loved them!), if you pay for the room with sea view you’ll get a very beautiful sunsets every evening. The room has a fridge with few bottles of free water and actually everything you need for a basic stay - towels, soap and shower gel/shampoo, hairdryer and AC. Wi-Fi is very good, which is a rare thing for hotels) The area of the hotel is very nice! It’s well maintained, a lot of greenery, fruits, free access to the pool (which appeared to be also not a very common thing for other hotels) and free parking. The pool is just a piece of free paradise!) Also there is a restaurant with very delicious food, live music and perfect service! As we were concerned about our free time and activities it was very helpful, because you can go and have fun any time at evening , just down the stairs (but if you want some peace it is also not a problem, the sounds from the restaurant isn’t that loud and you can barely hear it from the rooms). The beach isn’t far away, and it’s probably the best beach we’ve been to - the clean water, the sandy beach, the view, everything was on top of expectations. You have to pay for it if you want and umbrella and stuff, but the hotel kindly provides a free umbrella if you don’t want to spend money , so you can go and get a perfect spot on the perfect beach without any problems or extra payment. Tropea city is also 10-20 minutes from the hotel, so it wasn’t a problem , because you get a quiet peaceful spot just a few minutes from the city with historical sites and supermarkets. So the room and its maintenance, the beach service, the restaurant, the outdoors, the location are very good! But on the first place we would like to put the people, that works there- their kindness and willingness to help and to make your vacation as good as it possible - they are ready to advise you, to help , to meet any expectations and are so nice and welcoming that you feel very comfortable and happy being there. My stay at Hotel La Bussola was a beautiful experience from the very beginning. Their thoughtfulness shone through as they arranged a shuttle to greet me at the train station, and the driver's kindness set the tone for my visit. The welcome drink was a delightful touch that instantly made me feel at home. Maria, Valentina, and Aurora were incredible hosts; they imparting their knowledge of the local gems and cuisine, making my stay truly memorable. A dinner at the hotel's restaurant is a must. I would definitely be guided by Giuseppe's recommendations. The flavours were nothing short of spectacular. The buffet breakfast was a delightful start to each day, filled with many choices. The entire team at the hotel went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. I was so touched by their warmth and hospitality that there were tears when I had to say goodbye. I stayed one week in La Bussola with my wife and our two children in the end of July, 2022. My son chose this hotel based on the reviews in TripAdvisor. I must say, that La Bussola was far better than any of those reviews let us expect! First of all the kindness of the staff from cleaning ladies, waiters, receptionists and chauffeurs all the way to managers is overwhelming and most of all genuine. Even the proprietor, an elderly charming gentleman, goes around among the guests to inquire about their well-being. No request is too small or too big for them to fulfill. For example when I ran out of batteries of my glucose meter, the reception manager provided me with new batteries from Tropea within hours. When I needed a ride to a car rental agency, La Bussola gave me the ride for free. The food in hotel’s restaurant is exquisite. It is indeed a sushi restaurant, but has also a large selection of beef and pasta, which was a happy surprise because I don’t eat sushi. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. From our balcony there was a stunning view to west and we could see Stromboli in the distance. The pool is surprisingly large and guests are provided with ample amount of free sun loungers. Also non-alcoholic beverages and delicious non-alcoholic cocktails are available from the bar. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the beach every hour, but a more extensive exploration of Vibo Valentia province requires a rental car. There are several car rental companies within walking distance of the hotel. The whole La Bussola compound, including a private parking area for hotel guests, is surrounded by a fence, so your rental car is safe 24 hours a day. If you prefer to walk, there is a medium-sized and well-stocked supermarket within walking distance (600 m) of the hotel. Whatever your expectations are, La Bussola will exceed them. I strongly recommend La Bussola to everyone who appreciates perfection in a peaceful environment. Both families, couples and single travellers will feel at home there. According to my experience, La Bussola is no less than the physical world's equivalent of the immutable idea of ​​perfection.

This hotel was very smart - great room and bathroom, with a beautiful roof terrace. Parking right next door. Very handy for our boat trip around the Aoelian islands and we also had a wonderful trip out to Capo de Milazzo. The staff were really exceptional - sorting out my laundry on a holiday weekend, and organising a room for me for a 4 hour work meeting after check out - with coffee and water - no charge! Really fabulous.

Highly recommend The hole staff members are amazing, so nice and helpful, they make you feel great. There is a nice pool and rooms are fine. The breakfast is very good and there is big variety all kind of salty and sweet to eat. Hotel has also a restaurant which offers great sushi and fish.
