Best Western Plus Richmond Airport Hotel

It is a old hotel, but the price is good. Overall speaking, not bad.

Firstly the location of this Best Western was in a good location. It was close to my venue, restaurants, and mall. The staff was nice. However, I was very disappointed with the condition of the hotel. As soon as you entered you can smell mildew. The smell was overwhelming. The smell was through out the hotel. The rugs looked dirty and worn-out. The room I stayed in looked neat, however, there were many issues. First, my linen had not been changed. There were hair on the sheets. I reported the issue to the front desk, but there was no staff to change the bedding therefore I had to change them. The person at the front desk apologized. Next, the bathroom had mold under the sink where the towels were kept and on the wall. The tub looked worn and stained. The iron didn't work in the room, and the furniture was dusty. The closest was missing the doors. My friends were complaining about the same issues. It has been many years since I stayed in a Best Western Hotel, therefore it was shocking and very disturbing to see how rundown this particular Best Western hotel was. It is extremely upsetting to spend money for poor quality. The mold and Mildred is a health issue, the tattered worn rugs are a safety issue. I hope posting this will make them correctly address these issues.

We chose this hotel because it was cheap and close to the airport and we had spent $300 the night before on a nice hotel at Norfolk so needed to keep costs down. When we arrived, there were multiple people smoking dope outside the hotel and a hearse parked there which did not give us great hope! The front desk manager had such a heavy accent, we could barely understand him, but he was friendly enough. No ID was checked just name given. Hotel is in need of a serious facelift, and one of the two elevators is not working. The other one lands with a crash and a bump on every floor! Scary! Hotel room was really rundown with worn out features and no USB plugs, and few plugs overall and a hard bed however, the bathroom was absolutely fantastic! Two showers, including a rain shower, best part of the stay! Breakfast the next morning, saw people sitting in their dressing gowns, pajamas, with a rather low level of clientele, if I’m completely honest. Breakfast wasn’t bad, but it’s a tiny breakfast area and there are very few places to sit. Getting a printed copy of the Receipt took a while as there was no one on duty at the front desk. There is a shuttle bus, but I can’t tell you whether it’s good or not. Lots of restaurants and gas stations close by. Would not stay here again!

I needed to catch a 6:00 am flight, which meant I needed to be at the airport at 4 am. Since my friends lived 60 minutes away, I opted to spend that night at an inexpensive hotel that was close to the airport. This Best Western is a no-frills establishment. Yet, the staff was polite, my room was spotlessly clean and everything was quiet. There are also eating establishments in the vicinity. Best of all, the shuttle arrived at 4 and I was at the airport 5 minutes later, beating the rush that TSA dreads. Yes - there are 6 flights that leave at 6 am or 6:10. By the way, this BW does serve breakfast.
