Hotel Berghof | St. Johann in Salzburg

As we are travellers by nature, we visited many hotels on this planet and across the Austrian Alps, so basically the Berghofhotel can be recommended by our side , but with some reservations. The location directly opposite the station is perfect. The staff are very friendly, but some are lack of emphaty needed in tourism.The older part of the hotel badly needs some outside, partly inside(ski depot) renovation.Our room was new, thnx for the upgrade. We had a big renovated room in the older part. The spa is absolutely new and well equipped, but water is a bit too cold, not as advertised. We missed a variety of dishes at breakfast, so presentation of it is a bit poorish ,also at jause after ski break(lots of leftovers) had a lack of diversity.They arrange almost everything u wish, but still availability is not pronto.The quality of dinners were hot/cold.It can be seen , that the owners are on the run for hotel profitability, as food ingredients were normally not for 4S hotel, nor was charging for tap water to naive guests...We aren't cheapskate, but even thinking about it is outrageous. The location and our room were the greatest pros of the hotel.

Very clean hotel, included all possible amenities. Great view from the room, staff was very friendly and helpful. Great food, dinner was a bit longer then expected, especially with small child.

I have stayed at the property several times and it has always been excellent. The location, accommodation, food, beverage and especially the warm welcome and ambience created and offered by the family owner operators is second to none.
