Bonito Ibiza by O Beach New Opening

We had the best time here all staff and cleaner were friendly and helpful! We spent more time round the pool thanks to the dj …he was so good loved his vibe made our stay !

This is the only time in my life I have ever felt the need to complete a negative review in any establishment, but if you're thinking of staying here need to understand what this supposed 5 star hotel is like. First of all, let me make this clear, this hotel is NO WHERE NEAR a 5 star experience. The red flags were there from the moment we arrived. The wait to check in took over an hour, we were offered a drink and told to take a seat, as there were a few people ahead of us and priority was also being given to people checking out. We were told the ONE person on check in had been informed of our place in the queue, but then proceeded to watch people arrive after us, who chose to stand in the queue rather than sit, get checked in before us. We were eventually checked in, at which point they took a 500 euro holding deposit. Again, no problem necessarily, but this was not communicated at any point until they ask for it on the spot. Once checked in, we were simply told our room and block number and sent on our way, no offer of help with bags and no offer of help to find our room in what is quite a large complex. We asked a member of staff along the way to point us to our block number, he was on his phone and looked around as if he himself was lost and pointed in what seemed like a random direction. We found this laughable and knew immediately he had no clue where he was pointing, which turned out to be true, so we had to walk around and find our room ourselves. Once we found our block, we were on the 1st floor, the lift didn't work, not good for someone who is recently recovering from a serious surgery carrying 2 heavy bags unaided. So up the stairs we went. The rooms themselves are very nice. There was quite often towels missing when our rooms were cleaned, which also did not happen at all on one of the days of our stay. On the surface, the entire hotel is extremely nice, picturesque, clean and a beautiful complex in general. The pool areas are lovely, the restaurants look nice, the gym is ok. Unfortunately that is about the only positive thing we had to say about this hotel. It is also worth noting that we thought lots of the hotel was unfinished, lots of what looked like unfinished surfaces, ceilings etc, but this is understandable for a brand new hotel I guess. Now for the staff, they are clearly inexperienced, young, untrained, unbothered and I suspect have dealt with a whole summer of people complaining or asking questions about the same things we were as they are clearly exasperated and at the end of their patience. Every time we asked a question or complained about something, we were met with disinterest, rudeness and a lack of general hospitality you would expect in a 1 star hotel, let alone a 5. There were a couple of staff members who were extremely nice; it felt like a privilege to be treated nicely each of the few times we were. Currently here and there’s a lot to say! Firstly positives, breakfast is good, plentiful, fresh, great variety, a real highlight actually. And the restaurant and pool area look nice, with some casual seating around. The layout around the pools is pleasant enough, although more sun loungers instead of silly beanbags would be welcome. Good location, 15 mins walk up the prom to the centre and few mins walk to nice quiet beach. Just across the road from the O beach club, if you’re not ancient like me, Other food - have had a lunch and room service with a hair in my food both times, seriously, hair nets people! Lunch was average and expensive. Check-in was painfully slow. Just because you (maybe) have a free seat to give us and a drink, doesn’t mean we want to sit there for 45 +mins waiting and then checking in. The suite we’re in is terribly designed, an open shower near the door (have seen water leaking out of peoples’ doors and slippery floor when wet. Could do with basics like a few wall hooks etc. Back to the hair again sorry - but when we first arrived in the room there was a pube on the tiled bedside counter space and the floor felt gritty. Cleaning was better after that, but haphazard again last few days and sometimes too late and we’re back in the room and it’s not convenient. Also, there was supposed to be an extra bed made up in our room, this was in original booking. Numerous staff were asked and it took hours before my sick daughter could finally get into her own bed on that first night. The ladies toilets near the restaurant have the disabled toilets within them so so you may well have coked-up young men piling out next to you as you’re queuing for the toilet with you child, like I did - another baffling design decision in a brand new hotel. All in all, many communal areas look a bit rough and ready and shabby in places already. I guess the look is industrial chic and certainly all that cement is a vibe of sorts. It was probably still just about worth it, for the fabulous breakfasts and comfort around the pool, but I’m not sure all the problems in this place are teething problems. Certainly better customer service, better trained staff etc would help things run smoother and maybe then it’ll deserve another star.
