Blau Arenal Habana Beach

Great hotel. Nice rooms with king size beds. Great food and the staff very friendly and helpful. Felt great staying here. Miguel the director is working hard to make you feel like at home. Gracias Sr. Rosales. The location is fantastic. The beach is amazing.

First time to Blau Arenal Havana. The hotel in general is good the beach is amazing too. Room very clean and new with all facilities you may need Safe tv fridge Ac ….. food is acceptable, the swimming pool clean Big advantage if you r planing to visit Havana city centre a bus will come at 10:30 am to pick u for 10$ us or 15$ CAD till 5 pm Staff are friendly and walking on the beach was very nice

Stayed here for a week as we wanted an all inclusive that was close to Havana. Pros: Small - everything is in close proximity of everything else - like a two minute walk from room to buffet. Didn’t have to fight people for loungers by the pool. Very attentive and friendly wait and bar staff Clean (rooms, lobby, pool area) Quiet! If you want low key and quiet this is the place for you. Daily bus to Havana for $10USD/person round trip Cons: Food service: No 24hr food service here. They have a cute snack bar area by the pool that could definitely be used better. Between breakfast and supper they had a small assortment of “sandwiches” and “salads”. No grilled burgers/made to order items. It could probably also be used as an ala carte in the evening (as there is no ala carte here) Entertainment: while there was three evening shows over the course of the week there wasn’t much to do other than drink and chat with other guests after supper. Daytime entertainment/activities also scarce other than daily darts there’s not much else.

We were supposed to spend 2 weeks for the Christmas holidays but after 2 days, we decided to advance our return trip home as we couldn't stand it anymore. That's how bad it is. We had asked to be on the first floor because my husband and I cannot do stairs. The air conditioning leaked during the night and we woke up to a huge puddle. We then switched rooms after waiting several hours in the lobby. The furniture in the room looked like they were falling apart.The next morning we wanted to take a shower but there was no hot water. We then notified the cleaning lady and the hotel receptionist of the situation. The receptionist contacted the person in charge of quality control. What a farce!! The third room was no better. If anything, it was worse. At this point, we didn't complain because every time we complained, things got worse. Our last room had twin beds and I woke up with bug bites all over my legs and arms.We were later told by other guests that there is hot water but only between 3 and 5 o'clock p.m. As for the food, not much choice and always the same thing. We were served cold coffee for breakfast. I was also served a coffee with a lot of coffee grounds. I showed it to the waitress and she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders as if to say so what. The hotel is situated very far from Havana. It costs at least $35 USD to go there by taxi. As for the beach, we went once and picked up glass shards in the sand.

Great location, endless beach, great food especially on Cuban Fridays, nice shows, wonderful staff... lots of nice times during our 10 days at Blau Arenal. We chose Blau Arenal because of the good reviews and its proximity to beautiful Havana... only a 30 minute $10 return bus ride per person. The staff went beyond expectations like Eli, the housekeeper, Orlando, the life-guard, Manuel, the bartender, Daniela at reception, Ileana and her collegues in the restaurants, Diana in public relations (insuring that we had a nice 32nd anniversary) and Miguel, the manager. They all take considerable pride of their resort. We plan to return. Alma and Robert, Ottawa
