Stayed here for a week as we wanted an all inclusive that was close to Havana. Pros: Small - everything is in close proximity of everything else - like a two minute walk from room to buffet. Didn’t have to fight people for loungers by the pool. Very attentive and friendly wait and bar staff Clean (rooms, lobby, pool area) Quiet! If you want low key and quiet this is the place for you. Daily bus to Havana for $10USD/person round trip Cons: Food service: No 24hr food service here. They have a cute snack bar area by the pool that could definitely be used better. Between breakfast and supper they had a small assortment of “sandwiches” and “salads”. No grilled burgers/made to order items. It could probably also be used as an ala carte in the evening (as there is no ala carte here) Entertainment: while there was three evening shows over the course of the week there wasn’t much to do other than drink and chat with other guests after supper. Daytime entertainment/activities also scarce other than daily darts there’s not much else.

The resort and rooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The beach was nice. There was some good food at the buffet but there were some not so favorable items. They had some meats that just didn't taste very good. Meatballs and what appeared to be hamburger or sausage patties looked good but tasted bad. The soup's were good. They always had a couple kinds of rice and beans. Consistently had jello, pudding, and ice cream at the dinner desert part of buffet. Made to order omwlletes/eggs at breakfast. Was in Cuba for 2 weeks and was surprised at how many toilets I saw with no toilet seats and sometimes no toilet paper. The mens bathroom off the lobby had 3 toilets and only 1 had a toilet seat.

We were supposed to spend 2 weeks for the Christmas holidays but after 2 days, we decided to advance our return trip home as we couldn't stand it anymore. That's how bad it is. We had asked to be on the first floor because my husband and I cannot do stairs. The air conditioning leaked during the night and we woke up to a huge puddle. We then switched rooms after waiting several hours in the lobby. The furniture in the room looked like they were falling apart.The next morning we wanted to take a shower but there was no hot water. We then notified the cleaning lady and the hotel receptionist of the situation. The receptionist contacted the person in charge of quality control. What a farce!! The third room was no better. If anything, it was worse. At this point, we didn't complain because every time we complained, things got worse. Our last room had twin beds and I woke up with bug bites all over my legs and arms.We were later told by other guests that there is hot water but only between 3 and 5 o'clock p.m. As for the food, not much choice and always the same thing. We were served cold coffee for breakfast. I was also served a coffee with a lot of coffee grounds. I showed it to the waitress and she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders as if to say so what. The hotel is situated very far from Havana. It costs at least $35 USD to go there by taxi. As for the beach, we went once and picked up glass shards in the sand.

Great location, endless beach, great food especially on Cuban Fridays, nice shows, wonderful staff... lots of nice times during our 10 days at Blau Arenal. We chose Blau Arenal because of the good reviews and its proximity to beautiful Havana... only a 30 minute $10 return bus ride per person. The staff went beyond expectations like Eli, the housekeeper, Orlando, the life-guard, Manuel, the bartender, Daniela at reception, Ileana and her collegues in the restaurants, Diana in public relations (insuring that we had a nice 32nd anniversary) and Miguel, the manager. They all take considerable pride of their resort. We plan to return. Alma and Robert, Ottawa

Avoid this place if you love yourself; it will make you hate everything! We did not enjoy our vacation at all. We were constantly hungry, as the food choices were nearly nonexistent. Breakfast consisted of eggs and rice, and if we were lucky, chicken for dinner. We spent six days eating nothing but bread and water! The rooms were dirty. Despite tipping for new towels daily, I caught the housekeeper hanging up a towel I had used to wipe the floor. Unacceptable! The staff seemed to disregard their guests. The food was horrendous. I was excited to try the lasagna, only to find it overloaded with salt. At lunch, they served rotten fish and undercooked rice! Power outages occurred six to seven times a day, both day and night. The air conditioning was inconsistent—some rooms had new units, while others suffered from old ones. The hairdryers in both our rooms broke, and when we reported the issue, the receptionist only repaired one, shrugging off our concerns about the phones not working. The entire place was dirty, including the rooms, and I’m not just referring to the mold, which is a known issue in Cuba. The beds, pillows, covers, curtains, walls, bar, plates, and cups were all filthy! The pool was dirty and there was 0 entertainment! This is by no means a hotel, this is a place of torture! Save yourselves!

Room was grand clean and bed comfy. Food plentiful but not much to suit Europeans and Asian. Can do more different servings with food presented. Could have more of a variety at the snack bar and would be a good idea if they can open a section for people that are more used to Asian and Europeans food

The service was great. Staff was resourceful abd kind whenever we asked for anything. Post-pandemic scarcity on the island means...try to bring your own toilet paper. If you use more than average, you'll need to ask for more. The beds were extremely comfortable. All inclusive Cuban food well displayed. Not spicy, child friendly. Daily homemade ice-cream, breads, rice puddings, cakes. The pool was wonderful, cleaned daily and family water activities like water volleyball were encouraged. On the 19 stay we were offered live opera singers, and a circus, among other entertainment. Thus us a great family destination.

This hotel is an amazing place to stay in Havana and near to the Old Havana. It’s very close to the beach and the staff is wonderful. Its manager Miguel is a very helpful and approachable person who works hard to manage the happiness of staff and also all the guests. I strongly recommend this hotel to all my friends in spite of how challenging could be with the shortage of food in the country, everyone had a great time. I would recommend the recreation staff to promote more the beautiful traditional and updated Cuban music to make us feel part of the country’s culture and identity.
