West Cliff Inn, A Four Sisters Inn

We had an amazing time at the West Cliff Inn! The hotel is lovely with a lot of character. The bed was very comfortable. Rebecca was outstanding. She was helpful, caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. The breakfasts were awesome too! Can’t wait to go back.

I really enjoyed staying at this very personal 19th century mansion a little above Santa Cruz Pier. On arrival staff made me feel truly welcome; though I missed the "wine and cheese" hour, I still was offered a sip. My room was tastefully decorated in style, equipped with a hot tub. Night's rest on the firm mattress was very relaxing. Meeting car enthusiasts with their classic 1940's and 1950's "woodies" thad went on parade the following day rounded off the picture of a classy location. Homemmade breakfast was a treat not to be missed. I will definitely come back whenever I am in the area.

ONLY issue at this beautiful B&B is that it's NOT for adults only! The Inn is beautiful, location is perfectly located close to the pier and the Boardwalk. Our room #7 was very beautiful, roomy, updated and had a lovely balcony. The ONLY issue was the very young disruptive children at breakfast both mornings. We were also blindsided by all of the other children we encountered at the Inn. Full disclosure: It is posted in the Q&A on the website which I didn't read before I booked at the Inn. I assumed that all B&B's are for adults. Lesson learned, my mistake. I definitely wouldn't stay at a $500+ per night B&B if I knew it wasn't for adult only.

My stay at the West Cliff Inn was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the exceptional staff who went above and beyond to ensure our visit was comfortable and memorable. Each day, we were treated to a delightful spread of fresh, delicious options that catered to all tastes. The quality of the food was outstanding, and it was evident that great care had been taken in its preparation. This daily feast provided the perfect start to our adventures in the area. In the evenings, the wine hour added an extra touch of luxury to our stay. Relaxing with a glass of fine wine and a selection of delectable snacks was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. This thoughtful inclusion truly set West Cliff Inn apart and made our experience even more special. The West Cliff Inn offers a perfect blend of comfort, charm, and exceptional service. A lovely Italian style victorian guest house just across the street from the pier and boardwalk with ocean views and really fine breakfasts. There's a wine and cheese hour at 4pm and the staff is very accommodating. They had complimentary parking onsite and we felt no need to get in the car since the Inn is situated in the heart of the beachside attractions.

As part of our California coast trip we stayed in the West Cliff Inn for one night. Nice easy parking, beautiful location facing the famous pier, building was so picturesque. Check in was fantastic with Rachel, everything explained. Room was lovely, no air con but fires and stand up fans and big windows that open to get in all the fresh air you need. Breakfast was small but enough variety to get you through. Scrambled Eggs, Cake, Granola, Cereal that sort of thing. Overall we loved our one night stay. Good luck with the BMW project Rachel!

Great blend of a historical hotel and modern conveniences. Nice view and walkable to the beach attractions. Staff was very friendly and loved the personal touches that you normally don't get with large chains. Especially enjoyed the wine & cheese hour.

I stayed here in March 2023 when there was some bad weather and I didn’t want to drive all the way back home from my work in Santa Cruz. My review is mixed though I think this could be a nice place under different circumstances. It was a last minute booking and I got the last room available so my review might be different if I’d had a better room. My room was on the ground floor near the stairs and close to the breakfast area. The inn is well-maintained and has lots of character. It is also very close to the boardwalk. The parking lot is small and cramped but I had no trouble getting a spot. The staff were pleasant and they had some complementary drinks and, I think, cookies or small food available in the evening. My room was very small. I was incredibly excited to have a warm bath after a long and stressful day but there was no bathtub in my particular room. The street noise was loud so I didn’t get a great sleep. I needed to go buy a charger at night for my phone. The inn isn’t staffed at night and when I returned, I found that my keys had demagnetized and I couldn’t get in the building. I called the emergency number and someone helped me figure out how to get into the building and into my room but it was a hassle when I was already stressed and tired. The breakfast in the morning was very good. I’m planning to stay the night in Santa Cruz again soon for work and would consider this inn if I could have a room on a higher floor and if I wasn’t having to work so late again — don’t want to get locked out with demagnetized keys again!

We had a lovely 2-night stay in the Superior King Spa room of this historic B&B which included a king bed, a separate day bed, a large bathroom with an oversized jetted tub and a separate walk-in shower, a corner fireplace, two chairs, a desk and a large flat screen tv. This room is located upstairs on the third floor of the main building and there’s no elevator access (just to be aware). The chocolate chip cookies on a plate on the bed upon arrival were a nice touch. From this room, there’s an ocean view only if you look out the small window near the fireplace but it was quiet and spacious, yet cozy. It was nice to have the day bed as a separate place to stretch out, relax, and read. But this could accommodate a third person per their website. The room has no AC (but it’s rarely needed here) and the fireplace serves as a heater but given the mild temperates during our stay we were completely comfortable. The B&B itself is gorgeous, in a historic building built in 1877 renovated 2004-2007. And it has been very well maintained since, with a very comfortable front room that has large windows that allow for a view of the beach and ocean and wrap-around porches on the first and second floors. It also happens to be in a great location and is within walking distance to the pier and the boardwalk. I found the breakfast to have a nice array of items to choose from and there was always one main hot item every morning. The Sunday quiche was delicious and the portions were very generous. There was always fresh fruit, granola and muesli, and a baked item. We are still COVID-cautious due to high risk family members and people we work with so in addition to the comfortable and relaxing breakfast area, I was happy to be able to sit out on the front porch and have my breakfast while overlooking the Santa Cruz pier, beach and the ocean in the distance. There’s a balcony on the second floor that’s accessible by a door on the landing that has comfortable chairs with the same gorgeous view. From check in to check out, the customer service and front desk personnel were friendly, professional, and accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! And we’ll definitely be back again!
