This was not a pleasant experience in so many ways. When I booked my reservation on 8/9/24, I called the hotel because I didn't receive a confirmation number through email. The person on the phone said I could come in and check in the room since it was past midnight when we were on the phone. I was surprised she said that, but she reaffirmed that coming in at that time was okay. So, to avoid traffic, I hit the road with my 6-year-old son, and we arrived at the hotel around 3:30 a.m. I realized something was wrong from the moment we arrived. No one was responding to the ring bell and when she opened the door she couldn't hide how nervous she was. I didn't understand why until she said "There is a problem". A few things happened after that. First, she tried to cancel my original reservation and make me pay for my reserved room from 4am to 11am and get out of the hotel. Or, pay an additional fee for another room until 11am and then check in at 3pm to my original reservation. I refused to both since she was the one who told me it was ok to get on the road and drive 2 hours in the middle of the night to check in earlier since it was the last room available that weekend. Then she got on the phone to the Sea and Sand Inn Hotel owned by the same company to accommodate me and my son until 11am. She said it was a complementary room because of her mistake but when I got there the receptionist tried to charge me for that room after she lied to my face saying it was all taken care of. At that point, it was already close to 5am, my son and I were both tired. He was crying and begging to lie down. The receptionist at the Sea and Sand Inn Hotel had to call a Manager to go over the situation and after some back and forth he agreed to accommodate us until noon. Later that afternoon, we checked in to our original reservation and no one cared to give us an apology for the ordeal experienced the night before. Not even a late checkout was granted when I requested one the next day.
