Casa Prana Hotel in Atitlan

It's a quite long stretch from Scandinavia to Lake Atitlan, and this was my second trip to Casa Prana. The good vibes and beautiful surroundings strikes you immediately at arrival with the feeling of entering paradise. The warm welcome from the staff and luxurious amenities gives you a very pleasant start of the stay. During the stay you just know that everything will be taken good care of by the management and their service-minded staff. Every detail is planned and any request is promptly responded to and resolved. If you want to to have a pleasant getaway; this is a no-brainer! Have I mentioned all the possibilities in the Atitlan area? Order a boat and get around :-) try it out!

This resort must be experienced because it is difficult to describe with words. Situaded at Lake Atitlan surrounded by vulcanos and beautiful nature. Casa Prana was unique with it`s architecture, delicate luxury, tropical gardens, flowers, trees, sculptures and local art. Easy to find your own private spot, deliscious home made food, super comfortable beds, excellent service, fresh air, swimming pool, yoga and gym. We felt like kings and queens and will come back for sure. Highly recommended!

The magic of this place cannot be compared to anything ! The beauty doesn’t truly show from the pictures . If possible it’s even more wonderful in real life - the atmosphere, the garden that reminds me of the true meaning of the word “paradise”, the incredible positive people working there , the delicious food and the beautiful rooms . I’ve had the pleasure to explore several of the rooms and they’re all fantastic . I also have to mention the beds ; they’re so comfy I was sad leaving them at my departure . Lake Atitlan is already a very special place , and I exploring the lake with a base at casa prana made my experience even more dreamy . For whom ever is worried spending time at lake Atitlan will be to isolated there is noting to worry about . Casa prana assisted me in organizing many amazing day trips . They weee also great modifying the food after my allergies and restrictions . Thank you for having me.

The short story: New management cancelled our reservation. They provided a curt and vague explanation on why. They then ignored our many follow up messages seeking clarity on whether we could rebook, during which time the other comparable places all became booked up, really creating a headache for us. Just stay away from them. The full story: We were planning a trip for 11 people to Guatemala with a stay at Casa Prana as a key part of it. After many attempts to reach them, I spoke to someone at the hotel about how to book for a group. We then booked our rooms and received a confirm. After that, we booked other hotels, flights and activities around Guatemala. To repeat, they sent us confirms, one of which I attached. Then we got an email from Casa Prana cancelling all six rooms because I had used my credit card to reserve my adult son’s room, which is against their rules for reasons I don’t understand. I immediately went to rebook. The whole hotel was somehow instantly booked – see pictures of their website attached. Their first email response was vague and the second one rude. Neither explained if we would have a chance to re-book. They ignored our many follow up emails and what’s app messages in English and Spanish looking for more clarity. We were told by others in the Atitlan community that there was a change in ownership around the time we booked. New ownership believed they could get much higher prices and were looking to cancel as many reservations as they could. I’m sure they will have some dishonest response below. Look at all the reviews and posts I have on this site. I travel a lot and very rarely have anything bad to say. I’ve never experienced anything like this. Reserve at your own risk!

I have traveled the world and this was one of the most beautiful and peaceful boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. I stayed in the Luxury Suite and absolutely loved it. It was beyond spacious, beautifully designed, comfortable and relaxing. The terrace was cozy and charming. I chose to eat my breakfast out there each morning. The food was excellent and I found the kitchen to be very accommodating with dietary restrictions. I really enjoyed the fact that I could request to enjoy a meal anywhere on the property. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I also appreciated that they all addressed me by my name. The grounds of the hotel are nothing short of stunning! So many places to relax, sunbathe, nap, read a book, enjoy a meal, etc. I would revisit Casa Prana in a heartbeat!

We stayed 3 nights at Casa Prana. The property is incredible with an amazing garden. The rooms are also beautiful. The food was good but there should be more a bit more choice. On the negative side the hotel has rigid policies and the service is a bit disappointing for the high prices. The hotel has also a weird concept where you have to pay for everything including breakfast. The concept needs re-visiting.
