The location is amazing - the view, the building, and the backyard. They preserved well the genoan elements in the house. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The italian breakfast was good and served elegantly in a beautiful room, with lots of homemade foods. The only drawback is that the parking was 10EUR per day.

Exquisite villa with port views. An oasis of inspiration. we loved the vibe, the villa, the room. We had the suite Il Frutuoso with an amazing view. We had an Alexa in our room so we put some jazz to acompany the view and the finishing of the villa. The flooring and ceiling are original ones from 1874. We loved it.

A very nice experience with nice views. Rooms are large, very comfortable bed with nice linen and with the character of the original villa. Breakfast on the patio came with a beautiful view. Quality of the breakfast was also very nice. Hosts are friendly and helpful. The property is a little difficult to find but the on-site parking is an added benefit. Arrived late in the afternoon and drove into Portofino around 8pm no issues to have dinner. Access down to the town and station is from a stairway next to the hotel and easy to find but the climb is a little steep. Didn’t use it as I had a car but for those using public transport, getting up and down from the villa may require effort if you have luggage. No irons in room but they do provide a steamer. Overall a nice experience for a one night stay to visit Portofino.

This is a lovely place, perched on a hill above Santa Margeherita but still accessible for the town and all its delights. The staff are really friendly and the views are stunning. They haven't got a pool but have got a great spa tub and lovely gardens with sun beds. The building itself is stunning and views from the breakfast terrace would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.

I had a wonderful stay at this lovingly restored Villa. It’s an easy walk to the seaside Promenade, shopping, restaurants, and the train station, where you can catch a bus for a quick ride to Portofino. A wonderful breakfast is served on the patio offering spectacular views over the town and the seaside. The hosts are gracious and accommodating. I highly recommend the stay at this property.

Absolutely out of this world! A wonderful magical villa on a hillside looking over to the gulf of Portofino.Surrounded by well tended beautiful gardens, that are there if you should fancy an afternoon or evening relaxing in all their beauty. We were fortunate enough to stay in this stunning place for two nights, and received the very best of service from the staff, nothing too much trouble, and so friendly and informative. The villa itself is magnificent and sumptuous, formerly a home to a noble Italian family, and has the furnishings and decor that whisk you back to those very grand times. We stayed on a B&B basis, and each morning we ate breakfast on the patio overlooking views - that are out of this world, surely closest you could ever get to heaven! We would really love to stay again, but if this doesn't happen, we are so grateful for this out of the world experience, and would highly recommend to anyone reading this - to book up, very special. Thankyou Villa Gelsomino😉🥂

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Gelsomino right from the welcome! We felt at home and very cared for. The team are lovely and make our stay very relaxing. The bed was amazing, the best sleep we have had for a very long time. The room was spacious and well appointed and the breakfast a great start to each day, they even packed us a breakfast picnic when we travelled to Cinque Terre for the day on the train. And they happily made recommendations for places to eat and other helpful suggestions - highly recommended, thank you again!

Despite the AC not working well and the train noise, our stay was good till we found my wife's expensive dress stolen by the staff. They said their insurance will pursue and we produced all the documents and pictures they asked for, kept asking us to wait for the insurance response and no actions or response from the hotel of insurance. Stay someplace else.

We had the most wonderful time at Villa Gelsomino. The city of Santa Margherita is lovely but the villa was truly the highlight of our trip. We stayed at the "Cinque Terre" room which had ocean view and it made so much difference to our experience, as the view was magical. Breakfast was also really good and full of local food, very special. There is a private parking lot, which came in very handy. The hotel and rooms are so beautiful and the staff was always helpful, polite and kind. Certainly when we come back to Portofino we will return!
