Lovely location and handy hotel layout, 15 minutes walk from the centre of Santa Maria with sea views, no beach because it's sea shells or rocks, 5 minutes to the sandy beach, the beach between the hotel and sea is a beach road used by taxis, tour buses and quad bikes doing tours. Most of the earlier comments are true, it is tired but they are trying to freshen things up albeit very poorly. Budget furniture, (not enough), budget towels, pillows etc. dead or dying plants, unless they have been painted over ! Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is average and again, budget standard, coffee machine with powered milk, homemade, under or over cooked goods with the accompanying sparrows . We ate in the restaurant one night and sent the fish main course back because it was still raw in the middle, we didn't have another evening meal after that. The restaurant meals are small portions and top prices, much better meals can be found outside of the hotel. The budha warehouse must have run out because they have South Korean (thank you Google picture search ) or Egyptian statues as well. Also too many rules to enjoy the Zen atmosphere, a mismatched experience, but we enjoyed Cape Verde, Sal and the sunshine.
