Hotel Riu Funana - All Inclusive

Fortfarande här men skriver innan vi åker så jag inte glömmer :) Vi bodde på RIU Funana i november 2024 i 11 nätter totalt. Vi har verkligen haft vår vistelse och skulle absolut komma tillbaka! Personalen är otrolig och ingenting var någonsin för mycket för dem. Att ha Tui-representanten på plats har också varit praktiskt ibland även om vi inte bokade något med dem. Vi gjorde 2 utflykter inklusive en ö-tur som bokades genom Prince som du kommer att träffa på vägen till stranden och en annan som var buggyturen som vi bokade genom få din guide - personer som hade bokat via TUI var på vår utflykt så de använd definitivt samma företag och gå på samma sessioner som de som bokat någon annanstans. Några av våra favoritsaker med hotellet var personalen på restaurangerna och barerna, städningen sköttes till en hög standard varje dag, poolområdet, de olika restaurangerna och utan tvekan animationsteamet! Animationsteamet jobbar hela dagen för att underhålla alla och ge fantastisk energi till allt de gör. Vi deltog i både neonfesten och den vita festen och båda var fantastiska! Insatsen som går åt till dessa fester och utsmyckningen av scenområdet är något att uppskatta. Det finns en väl gömd sportbar som är öppen dygnet runt. Det är ganska svalt (temperatur) där inne och dessutom tystare så det är lättare att få en drink än i några av de andra barerna. Det är på baksidan av scenområdet nere på vänster sida av baren som syns. Mat - vi hade absolut inga problem med mat alls. Min partner är 27 med smaklökarna av en 4-åring och kunde fortfarande äta gott under frukost, lunch och middag. Restaurangen mambana verkar locka flugor mer än de andra så detta är något att vara medveten om men tyvärr inte mycket de kan göra åt detta. Det gjordes en nöjdhetsundersökning gjord av ledningen under vår vistelse och jag föreslog att de kunde täcka maten med lock för att förhindra flugor, förhoppningsvis är detta något som kommer att implementeras inom en snar framtid. Jag och min partner fick magsjuka i kanske en och en halv dag, men vi tror att det här mer har att göra med mat vi åt ute på en turné och även med värmen, äta mer och dricka kolsyrade drycker non stop. Jag har absolut ingen oro för att detta orsakades av hotellet eftersom vi har gjort 10 nätter när jag skrev detta och vi har haft det bra resten av tiden. Men återigen, magbesvär kan hända var som helst när du kombinerar bufféer, all inclusive-bar och värme. Om jag var kräsen, är det enda jag skulle ändra på hotellet platsen. Vi gick ut från hotellet till Algodoeiro Beach (där Tui och Melia ligger) och tyckte att detta var ett mycket bättre område när det gäller tillgång till stranden så om detta är en stor sak för dig, skulle jag överväga en av Melia eller Tui hotell. Mitt största problem var det krångel vi fick på väg till stranden av lokalbefolkningen som försökte sälja turer. Vi förstår att de behöver försörja sig men det var konstant vilket ma

Excellent hotel, food was very good plenty of choice and 3 speciality restaurants to book. The room was a good size with a free safe and a fridge, good air con. Pool area was nice we always got sunbeds and always pool side. Yes we get up relatively early but unless you come down after 11am then you could find a bed. Entertainment staff work tirelessly. We went to the beach once and did not get hassled by the guys selling trips they just stood with their brouchers open. Plenty of sunbeds on the beach both shaded and in the sun. Overall a fantastic holiday in a very nice hotel. I would recommend to friends and family.

Where to start with this review, we arrived on August 29th to the Funana for a two week holiday, this hotel is rated 5 stars at the hotel and I think TUI give it 4 and a half stars , my personal opinion is that it's at best 4 stars . If this hotel was a 5 star hotel the rooms would be better the drinks would all be premium and they weren't I only saw Gordon's gin and Jim beam on the premium list and unless you ask for these drinks you will get the cheaper version. The wine was out of a pump on a self service area or at the bars and I just couldn't get on with the pump wine as none of them tasted very nice . You only get to drink bottled wine in one of the restaurants that you have to book which was nearest to the Funana reception area . There's no sparkling cava or prosecco available either ,only on a Sunday morning at breakfast in the buffet could you get a glass of fizz . The hotel room felt tired and in need of refurbishment and no way near as nice as other Riu s that I have stayed at before like the Riu baobab Senegal and Riu palace Costa rica and even the vista mar in gran canaria was a nicer room than here but the bed was comfy the showers was good and the cleaners at our section block 7 were amazing at making your room up every day perfectly and I thank the cleaners for their hard work. It just seems to me like the hotel is making cutbacks and not spending money on the pool area where there's missing and broken tiles in various places and the sun beds are not the most comfortable and there not cushioned either . This is why I can't rate this hotel higher than 4 stars because it's being neglected in certain places with the decor and cheap non premium drinks but in saying all this it was cheaper to book this hotel than the Riu cabo Verde which is attached to this hotel but seperated by security because you aren't allowed to go into the cabo Verde but I think that they can come into the Funana . I did have a look around the Riu cabo Verde and it's basically the same design as the Funana but it's had some money spent on it and it's definitely more modern and luxurious than the Funana but it was about £400 pounds more to stay at this hotel when we booked the Funana and the drinks are premium and you get bottled wine too and cushioned sun loungers so you get what you pay for don't you ;) . The food overall was well presented in the main buffet area at the Funana and even though I had stomach cramps for a large part of the holiday that I did report to TUI reps , I just couldn't nail what I was eating that was causing the problems for me but like I said the food looked good and plentiful and it was a shame that I had issues but overall the food seems to please the guests . This hotel is 24 hours all inclusive so you won't go thirsty or hungry here and the staff at the hotel are great and very hard working that's why I was tipping them daily but I didn't see much tipping by the hotel guests and they do appreciate a tip if you can find a bit of loo

We stayed here for a week and had a fabulous time, the staff throughout the hotel were always helpful, attentive, friendly & so very hard working too which is a huge part of any stay in a hotel. Room was clean & provided all the essentials you could require (including a safe & fridge), cleaning of room was exemplary. The view from the balcony however was not so appetising as it overlooked a waste land (but I don't go on holiday to stay in the room, so wasn't really an issue). The main restaurants are both the traditional buffet fare and provide every food you could wish for. There are also 3 specialist restaurants that require booking, worthwhile downloading the Riu app in advance of trip to book specialist restaurants on arrival- max 3 days in advance booking aloud). The pool area's are extensive and well kept. As usual the only frustration is the hotel towels left on sunbeds (with nothing of their own which block off access to a number of used sunbeds throughout the day). Pool bar is a nice touch. An additional nice touch is the beach bar with limited drinks menu but a toilet in that area may be a useful addition). I think the reception staff were given a hard time on many review's however I found them engaging & helpful throughout. The evening entertainment was to a very high standard each night & I have to add the Riu Neon party was certainly a fun evening where it feels like the up the ante to a provide a fabulous party atmosphere for all ages. Do not miss this evening, it alternates each Friday with white wear party too (we obviously never experienced that but were told than was just as much fun). If I was to return to Sal I would have no second thoughts on booking this hotel again. Excellent very hard working staff, very clean throughout, wide selection of restaurants & foods, good rooms and extremely well laid out amenities.

Not 5*, nearer 3*. Tatty needs a refurb. Room problems include; toilet door locked, room door jammed, Aircon not working/noisy, telephone not working. Main restaurant carnage, special restaurants very good. Bar service and entertainment good. Staff variable but language demands very high. Beach walk to Santa Maria outstanding. Overall ok.
