Travelodge by Wyndham Santee

Useful place to stay for a night during a longer trip. Room was comfortable and clean. Convenient location directly off the state road with a Dollar General opposite and few restaurants nearby. Generally felt safe in the area. Accommodation could do with some updating the the communal areas and the bathrooms. Rooms are slightly more modern. Breakfast was fairly limited but unlike some other accommodation in this category there was a small dining room to eat in. It was nice not to have to eat in your room. Decent value for customers. Don't expect any frills.

I was checked into a room that wasn’t cleaned, bed un-made wet towels on the floor. Second room was cleaned but everything about it was poor quality. No security lock on the door, very loud A/C unit, linen & towels low quality and cheap.

Room had some issues, but what do you expect from a motel that charges $60 a night? Go down the road and pay 3x more if you want a great experience.

Disgusting. Filthy room. Dirty sheets and towels. Feces smeared on bathroom walls. Mystery fluids on walls. Questionable “business” deals in parking lot. Random sketchy people hanging around. Loud noises in the night. 0/10; do not recommend.

Stay was so-so. Comfort was good. Direct TV kept losing signal. Property was not necessarily pleasingly to the eye.

I want to start out with saying we were a late arrival. (A call was made to the hotel earlier to confirm our reservation and inform them of the arrival time). The hotel front was dimly lit. I was greeted by staff member through a glass passthrough in the lobby door. This required me to stand outside in a barely lit courtyard while we exchanged info. The property looked like it was in some type of renovation due to piles of equipment at the back end of property. As we pulled up to our room, we encountered people hanging out in front of our room and more people “hanging out” a couple doors down. It was after midnight. Due to the lack of lighting, not familiar with surroundings and late hour, we did not feel safe. We quickly entered the room. It was a musty smell mixed with fresh paint. The sheets were filthy. The bathroom was not clean. Hair in the tub with dirt. Towels looked like they were used. As we were discussing our options, a bug started to crawl up the wall. This made our final decision. We went back to the front and explained why we couldn’t stay (with pictures). I explained I needed a refund because room was not clean, and property was not safe (as I was lead to believe on website). The staff member said she would take care of it. The results: after several attempts from Travelocity staff, I was given 1/2 my payment back and no room for the evening. Very disappointed for a Wyndham property. I do not recommend.
