We visited Kalya Suites in June 2024 as a group of four friends in our 40s looking for a relaxing holiday. The suites are located towards the end of the main strip in Kamari and are behind an appealing wooden door. When you walk through the door, you step into a cobbled area leading to the pool and suites. Taxis are in short supply on the island, so are fairly expensive. We arranged a transfer with the hotel. It’s only 10 mins ride from the airport, and about €30. The whole resort is cobbled so heels are tricky to walk in if you plan to dress up in the evening. We stayed in a suite which was advertised as being for four people. The room seemed nice on arrival and had good air conditioning (important), however the air conditioning is driven by your door key, so it only works when you are in the room. Thankfully the manager gave us a spare card to keep it running for longer periods. The staff were really lovely and very accommodating. The room wasn’t really designed for four adults in our opinion. There was one hanging area with 11 hangers, one set of shelves and only the downstairs beds had a bedside table of any sort. The upstairs ceiling was very sloped (we were four fairly short ladies so would definitely be a challenge for a taller person) and there was literally a bed and nothing else upstairs. The room is very open so limited privacy. There were robes and slippers but only provided for two, although I am sure they would have provided more if asked. There was one bathroom with the toilet inside also. The shower fixings were broken and so you had to hand hold the shower to use it. We had already known there would be only one bathroom, but the hotel had advertised a toilet available at the poolside so we figured that was there for emergencies, unfortunately it was located in the managers office so was locked for long periods. The pool area is very nice with around 15 sun beds (important to note, not actually one per person) but we did find generally we could secure a sunbed when we wanted one. There is a little bar serving drinks. The hotel provides pool towels which you can also take to the beach. They give you a clean towel in the room every day. One of the reasons we had selected Kalya suites for the appealing description of breakfast delivered to your room each day to eat on your balcony. The website, nor booklet in the room, had not been updated and there is no food available at the hotel. We had looked forward to a Greek salad by the pool, but this was not the case. Breakfast was served at a local restaurant a short distance from the hotel. Breakfast was very nice and consisted of four courses. 1) cake and bread, 2) some kind of starter such as a sort of eggy pastry, 3) a main course, often omelette or scrambled eggs, and a dessert such as fresh fruit or yoghurt. It is a fixed menu each day, but we discovered if you talk to the staff they can adjust what is offered. For example we swapped out the main option for scrambled egg
