Kalestesia Suites

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this hotel. The property is located above Akrotiri village, and affords stunning views of the caldera, Fira and Oia. There are 2 sections- an older/more traditional set of rooms, and a new annex with more modern suites. Both have beautiful views. The main pool is situated adjacent to the older rooms, with a slightly smaller pool at the annex. We stayed in a senior suite with Jacuzzi, that was very spacious and had a large terrace with peerless views of the whole island. Air con was almost silent, and very efficient. Nespresso machine has some Pods provided but worth taking some of your own. Breakfast is ordered for the week when you arrive, but items can be changed the night before on request. Worth pointing out that the hotel is situated on a very steep hill. We walked down into the village most days, but the way back up is a fair hike if you are not fit or have mobility issues. If you are hiring a car, the access road is both steep and narrow, so a small vehicle is recommended. Some of the local restaurants offer collection and return to the hotel- we ate at all three on the list provided , and enjoyed them very much. Reception will arrange this for you. Would return, very good value for money considering the views. Staff were hard working, warm and very helpful.

This hotel has good points but also has many areas which need improving. Website is not clear about the road leading to the hotel and how narrow and difficult it is with a car. Some taxi’s will not take you all the way to the hotel. The hotel has split levels with some accommodation further down the hill, which then means a steep walk up to the main hotel. Drains are pungent when running the water in bathrooms. Maid service is hit and miss and sheets are not changed even when staying for 10-nights. 3rd bed was one of the sofas which was extremely uncomfortable. No private balconies with some of the rooms. Gym, Games room and Spa look nothing like the photos on the website and were dark, dingy with laundry drying in the games room. Front desk manager was ‘frosty’ with customers service lacking at times. Do not eat at all the restaurants recommended as some were awful. Plus points: breakfast was served by a wonderful member of staff who was so friendly and could not do enough for you. He worked exceptionally hard. Views were spectacular of the sunset. The area of the hotel was not as touristy which meant you could escape the bustle of the main areas.

This is away from all the chaos. It’s great for kids. The staff were lovely and always made us feel welcome. Great pool bar with cocktails, cold beer and great food. Great pool for all of us and the view back to oia, Fira and the volcanoe was pretty special. Breakfast was awesome. I feel incredibly relaxed after staying here.

What an amazing experience. We really enjoyed our stay there. We felt like it was our home. From the check in we were greeted by the host Teo, he really took care of us and made us feel like he was a friend we havent seen for years. Then, in the evening we enjoyed the hotels restaurant and my god, amazing food. We tried the shrimps, kalamri and the chicken al acreme. It was delicious. Miss Anna (the cook) is one of the best! We really had an amazing experience there. I strongly recommend you going there if you are looking for a nice get away. One upside though. There was an eldery couple next to our room that was complaining about everything. My opinion is that he was mad that england lost the euro final. He was always complaining about the hotel being far from the capital fira. But he knew where he booked, he knew that it eas far from there. I dont really know why he was mad about everything. He didnt let us even enjoy our veranda at night. In other words. We really recommend this place to everyone who want to enjoy their time there. Thank you to everyone.

Not for us...booked and paid for three nights stayed for one. Positives the views - fabulous! most of the staff (except the male receptionist/waiter who was most unsympathetic to our situation). the welcoming owner and his son the warm and informative welcome the very lovely village however due to significant negatives the hotel was not for us. Negatives After travelling the Cyclades Islands for 3 weeks we decided to book a quintessential romantic Santorini white and blue villa style hotel for our last three days. The photos of the hotel were exactly what we wanted. However our room was seperate from the hotel in a new annex and not the pretty white washed accommodation. We were transported by car as it was down a quite steep hill, away from the main hotel. Our superior suite was a terracotta maisonette with a pathway running right in front of the window, which was used regularly by guests and staff, allowing absolutely no privacy for the planned 'romantic' last three days of our wonderful Greek holiday. Hugely disappointing. I returned to reception and spoke to a quite unhelpful and unsympathetic guy covering reception about a move to somewhere with more privacy or perhaps a partial refund. He gave a firm no - explaining it was a superior suite - the hotel had provided what we requested. I explained about the lack of privacy but to no avail so we decided to try to relax and go for lunch. The food at the pool was very slow, too slow and the quality was poor. Perhaps we've been spoilt travelling the islands but the food quality here was nothing like what we'd experienced to date, including at other pool bars. Yes, as the helpful lady explained, it was pool snacks but in the evening the restaurant food wasn't good quality either. Prawn saganaki is my favourite Greek dish but not at this resturant! The final straw was the noise during the night - very poor soundproofing - we could hear our neighbours' talking until 3am. We had very little sleep. Shattered, we stayed for breakfast (which was lovely) and left with nowhere else to stay. We wanted privacy, quiet rest and whitewashed Santorini but sadly didn't find it here. We'd go back to Akrotiri, it is a very peaceful and relaxing village, but not the Kalestesia Suites. Sadly, a costly mistake as the suite was not for us and we had to book alternative accommodation at our cost. Disappoint end to an amazing three weeks in Greece.

What an experience! Our favourite hotel so far in Santorini, child friendly. We were in the new part in the senior suite with jacuzzi. View from the room and the jacuzzi is unreal.Also the new part has a huge pool facing the caldera is amazing ! The sunset from the top of the old part of the hotel building is magical! The staff is so friendly and the manager Theo is unbelievably helpful and is there for you to arrange anything ( car rental, restaurant booking ) . We have never seen such a hard working hotel manager! Breakfast they deliver to the room, From the pool bar you can order food during the day and from 6/7 the restaurant is opens which offers unbelievably delicious food. 3 restaurants offer free pick up from the hotel , from them our favourite was Theofanis food experience- it is a must to try. Our modern, new room was cleaned daily and it was spotlessly clean. Overall it was a lifetime experience and we can not wait to return, would definitely choose this hotel again ❤️
