Gideon Putnam Hotel

To start out on a positive, our server Vivian was wonderful. The food ? The Bao was lacking in everything…taste and size. Bao with char sui is usually stuffed. I had 2 pieces of ? in 2 baos for $20!! The cubano was not melted at all. The bread looked like it was put in the panini press for 30 secs. Cubanos need to be pressed and the cheese melted. Typically the meat is heated before being put on the sandwich. Big fail on both accounts. Will always like the chips and dip served with the meal. First review and should have done more in the past. I expect more from what I consider a high end location.

Our first time at the Gideon Putnam. It is a beautiful hotel. The elevator was very loud. When we were checking out they had some animals there that the kids loved. The restaurant was very loud as it was right inside the bar, but the food was good. We ate outside and the park is very pretty.

The hotel cancelled our reservation! We made reservations directly through the hotel for 2 nights at the end of October. The hotel just called and told me they were cancelling my reservation due to “seasonal closure.” They said they are open for large parties like wedding, etc. I do not know why they would have let me make the reservation months ago when they knew they were closed! They need to get their act together

This hotel is incredible! Wonderful service, beautiful location and excellent food. The setting and the decor are lovely and add to its charm. The surrounding walking trails and stream are fabulous. It is adjacent to tennis courts and mineral baths means you never need to drive.

This Grande Dame may be in need of certain upgrades, per other reviews, but my wife and I had an excellent experience - staff very welcoming and helpful, room very comfortable, and nice shuttle service to downtown Saratoga and the track. Will return!

We stayed at the Gideon Putnam for a wedding. The food was great and the service was wonderful. When we checked out the next day they had a horse and carriage which was very cool. We weren’t able to ride it as we needed to get back but hopefully for next time.

I’m a 77 year old retired English Doctor celebrating with my wife our Golden Wedding anniversary. Our five week New England trip was organised by an agent. The previous eight hotel stays were good and we were looking forward to staying at GP. We were shocked at our room. A VERY small dated room with a 4 foot 6 bed! Bathroom hardly bigger than a shower cubicle! I immediately went to reception to complain and told no other rooms available. Booking . Com said there were. After a very uncomfortable night we checked out not wanting to stay for the two remaining nights we were booked in for. We found alternative accommodation which proved good. At no time did staff seemed concerned about our disappointment which has spoiled the few remaining days we have left here. New England is a beautiful area and the people nice; we’ve throughly enjoyed our trip, only spoilt by our experience at GP which was truly awful. Dr R Newton

A charming hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff made you feel welcomed our entire stay. Nestled in the park at Saratoga Springs. Highly recommend staying here, especially in the summer and fall as it is a spectacular setting. Can't wait to visit again.

Such a lovely location inside Saratog state park. Warm and inviting hotel, reminiscent of yesteryear with service to match. Who has a complimentary shuttle these days! Golf, bike, swim, walk the trails searching for mineral springs, check out the spa- truly something for everyone. Really comfy beds and friendly staff. I will surely return!
