Huttopia Saumur

This was our first time staying at a Huttopia campsite. I was worried it would feel big and busy but it really didn’t. The pitches were large and felt private and had a good lot of shade from the trees. The pools were great and clean although definitely not enough seating around the pool. The bar was good value we bought a bottle of rose for 12 euros which I thought was reasonable. And we sampled the pizzas which were excellent. The toilets although mainly clean had a very strong smell of urine during the whole trip but the showers were always clean and we never had to wait.

What a great site! Right on the side of the river. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. They managed to get us two pitches next to each other in the sunshine ☀️. 2 pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Defo recommend this one for families, couples or just on your own. Very peaceful ☺️ xxx

Please be aware that if you are camping or caravanning at this site then there are a few things to be noted. Firstly there are only two areas to get fresh water to fill water bottles or aquarolls. Huttopia in their infinite wisdom has removed all fresh water taps from around the site. The main tap to use is near the motorhome service area, however, be aware that this is the chemical toilet disposal area, so if you fill your fresh water barrel the chances are that the hose has been used to wash out someone's chemical toilet. The second place to fill your aqauroll/ water bottles is by the toilet block, however, be aware again, whilst we were there I witnessed a few residents washing out potties and other 'things' with the fresh water tap. When you approach the site please be careful as the pot holes in the road just as you enter the site will damage your suspension on car and caravan. No one seems to care about these and are the site seems happy to let them stay as they are and just get deeper. We have been holidaying here for many years now and have seen the site depreciate into an expensive, unloved and unlooked-after site.

Just booked this for next month. Did not reilise they had added a 20 Euro booking fee until after I'd paid. My fault for not checking, but very steep, and I would of not booked here had I reilised. Oh well, hopefully it's worth the 2 nights!

We had a Classic 5 tent for 6 nights at the end of August, so was just at the tail end of peak season. We were a family of 5 with older teenager and adult son & daughter. We've camped at several Huttopia sites and this is now one of our favourites. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and helpful through out the stay. The toilet/ shower facilities were good and clean. The bar and terrace were lovely with choice of pizza's or sharing boards. There atmosphere at the bar/terrace in the evening was a good mix of relaxed but with bustle and activity of family/ friends chatter and children playing. The three pools were well used and well maintained. The covered pool was very warm. We really liked our tent and the pitch. The whole stay was relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting there to be much to do in the area, but was wrong and there is a good choice of places of interest within reasonable distance. I'd really recommend a visit to the Bio-park, which we all thought was thee best zoo we've visited.

We stayed for one night. After having stayed on many other places along the Loire, this was by far the most expensive (53€ per night vs. 20-25) and one of the less maintained ones. The place looks nice, but contrary to its self-given image was slightly neglected (no flowers, no watering for the rather dry plants around). The facilities were ok, but rather few for the amount of people (6 showers); in the evening, I waited for a shower and later for a free sink. Annoying, but not the camping‘s fault: There was a techno beat resounding from the river valley all day and all night long. Giving itself an ecological touch, pony riding doesn’t sound a responsible activity, especially at 40 degrees. Alltogether: Ok, but I wouldn‘t go there again.
