The Bell Hotel, Saxmundham

Superb dinner at the Bell for my Dad's birthday. The best gnocchi I have ever had, absolutely delicious flavours. Generous sized fish and chips for Dad. The food here is amazing! Such warm and welcoming staff, who went above and beyond to help my Dad feel special on his birthday. A really lovely place to come to. Thank you so much to all of the team - I can't emphasise enough how great the service was here - lovely lovely people.

We stayed at The Bell for two nights and had dinner in the hotel's restaurant on one night. The food both for dinner and two breakfasts was of a high standard. What really sets this family-owned hotel apart however is the friendliness of the staff. Thank you to Callum and Joana for the genuine warmth of your welcome and attention during our stay.

It was a wonderful stay at the Bell Hotel. It was our first time at this hotel and we wanted to explore the coastal towns of Suffolk, the location was perfect. The room was excellent, very well decorated and furnished, the bed was very comfortable and the shower room was large and clean. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. We were able to chill out in the bar and enjoy an afternoon tea and read, there is also another lounge area in the next room. The food was excellent, we had wonderfully cooked breakfasts and evening meal, the Chef produces excellent creative food. We will be going back for another stay.

My college and i dropped into The Bell Hotel for an early morning coffee at just after 07.00. Staff were happy to serve us with a nice cup of coffee and a biscuit on the side. We made ourselves comfy in the front lounge bar which was nicely laid out. A very nice experience.

The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout. The rooms are very comfortable but it’s the staff that make it. Every member of staff, especially the manager Callum, couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome. The restaurant was really pretty and the food was delicious. We booked a spacious room which was the dog friendly room and there was a bowl and bed for him in the room. They also provided a camp bed for our teenage daughter which she said was very comfortable. There is a free car park just to the side of the hotel which is very convenient. No payment required. Saxmunden is well positioned to explore both the Suffolk coast and countryside. We will definitely come back and would recommend. If I had one minor criticism, it would be that our room was directly over the courtyard garden. Noise was not a problem for us because we visited in October and had the window to the room shut so the noise from guests wasn’t bad . Plus the hotel closes at 11pm so there was no noise after that. If you were staying in the summer months and like to go to sleep before 11pm I would suggest asking for a room at the front of the hotel instead.

Amazing staff great food . Staff friendly manager amazing and great range of drinks. Thank you for a good night out Will return. All clean and tidy. Worth a visit and will return very soon. Working in the catering industry was good to go some where to relax and enjoy good food and drink

Couldn't fault the welcome room or service. Staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasurable experience. Not much going on in the town as far as we could see but ideal spot for exploring the nearby suffolk coast. Just one thing i think you'd have to arrive early to get a parking space

We arrived for a meal without a reservation and with our Labrador. We were made very welcome. Staff are lovely, fun and professional. The food was delicious. The building is beautiful with its history on display. Very close to the railway station if you don't want to drive.

Lovely, kind and helpful friendly people. Nothing was any trouble at all - couldn’t be more helpful. A super comfortable room. Delicious food and excellent service. All in all a great place to stay. Would be my first pick on any future trips - highly recommended.
